I found record of the true story in the Colorado Historic Newspapers - an incredible free resource for individuals with historical connections to Colorado. www.coloradohistoricnewspapers.org
My 2nd great-grandfather, Gus Cushman, pictured on his wedding day in 1902. He passed away in 1912 at Colorado’s Dunton Hot Springs while on a hunting trip. His six young children were provided with an alternate account of their father’s passing, perhaps to save them the troubling details.
My great-grandmother, Drucia Cushman, in Telluride, Colorado. Drucia was born in CO in 1903. Cushman ancestry traces back to several of the original Mayflower passengers, although I have not had this lineage officially certified by the Mayflower Society. Do you have any connections to the Mayflower?
Aloha! My name is Tricia, and I’ve been researching my genealogy consistently since 2010. Over the years, I’ve uncovered many interesting—and occasionally scandalous—things. I hope to share some of my discoveries here and connect with other genealogy enthusiasts. 🧬
