Thanks Collin! Looking forward to meeting yourself and others IRL finally.
Thank you!
Thank you! Same to you!
Finally going to #AFF this year, for the first time, so this is a nice surprise and a bit of a relief, since I was beginning to think I was the only one from my writers group going that didn’t make the 2nd round.
Gotta be a camera guy. Only time I had tape like that was as an AC.
Younger generations, please watch Poltergeist for an illustration of how a television went to snow at 12:30 in olden times…sans the girlish voice crying out about going into the light and all that. We didn’t have THAT.
Thank you!
Thanks Guy!
Thank you!
Been at this a long time and this is the first time I’ve actually had a script progress past the quarterfinals. Thank you @networkisa.bsky.social/ #emergingscreenwriters for a much-needed nod to keep on banging my ahead against the bricks.
Ok, not a grandparent…yet but yeah, I remember waiting in those lines and I have never clutched an armrest as tightly nor leaned halfway out of my seat like I did at that first viewing.
On Coverfly, unsure if I’m on the screenwriters feed?
The break up letter with Stage 32 shared yesterday looks official. I suppose the lemonade is we have four months to query with these new higher scores.
I’m heading there in October. Hoping to catch that.
I revisit the oldies, sometimes just to update technology or cultural references. The page count usually goes down because everyone was saying too much.
"In my twenties, I moved around an America of diminishing opportunity, settling in Missouri not out of intent but inertia. People of my generation don’t have dreams, we have circumstances. But even if I’d had enough money to move, I would have stayed." www.vanityfair.com/news/story/c...
I was just scrolling the list and noticed that. Why would they exclude one of the top film schools in the world?
Trying to find a silver lining here and I guess that’s remembering we need to be our own champions, which means a renewed focus on networking and the art of the query letter.
Ok but someone had to have Goldberg’s number stored, yes? And if so, why do you have a reporter from The Atlantic in your Signal? To leak something I presume…?
My first thought was my writing in college (trash) vs. my writing as a mature adult after decades of working on my craft. Interesting choice they’ve made.
Yeah, so if I’m reading this correctly, I either have to go back to school or host my script on The Blacklist? Not digging this at all.
Anytime I see the wizard (writer) peeking out from behind the curtain it bumps me and I am reminded to comb through my own work and see if I’m doing that.
Impressive as the technical mastery of this show was, I was blown away by the cast’s endurance and ability to deliver these gut-wrenching performances when the moment called for it, again and again, deep into takes. Throw all the #Emmys at this show.
I didn’t realize this originated as an essay. I remember for the longest time, people were erroneously attributing it to Kurt Vonnegut.
Yeah, I was wondering about that. Up until recently I had Merkley & Wyden and I could usually count on them to do the right thing. Cantwell I’m not as familiar with.
Good to know. I have to make calls to Murray and Cantwell as well.
Never thought in my late 50’s I’d start learning Portuguese, jump back into French and spend so much time learning about the various types of travel visas, but here we are.
And The “Choose Your Fighter” Tik Tok felt like an equally silly/ineffective bit of performative “resistance” IMHO.
