The book was came out in 2018 but it unfortunately describes a lot of what we see now. I do think it has been helpful to read something written before now to process current experiences with.
I definitely recommend reading it and will post more updates once I finish the book.
• Hierarchy - This is the idea that nature has a natural ranking of people and that we should follow it.
• Victimhood - when a majority group sees a minority group be treated equal, they take that as oppression
• Anti-intellectual - "Facist politics seeks to undermine public discourse by attacking and devaluing education, expertise and language" (page 36)
• Unreality - Disagreement about truth. Alternative facts

• The Mythic Past - We have to get back to the good days when it was like ______
• Propaganda - "Poltical Propaganda uses the language of virtuous ideals to unite people behind otherwise objectionable ends" (page 25)

About two weeks ago I started reading How Facism Works by Jason Stanley. I'm about half way through it.
Something the book has done very well, is it describes a component of facism and it's purpose. Then provides examples of how this has happened in history.

Statement from Michael and Susan Pretti Parents of Alex Jeffrey Pretti “We are heartbroken but also very angry. Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the ‘hero’ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed. Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you.
