The case will be supported by evidence gathered by French and German prosecutors who charged Jamil Hassan, former head of Syrian Air Force Intelligence. European prosecutors cooperate with each other, and with the UN Intl Indep Impartial Mech for Syria - IIIM. (Hassan is believed to be in Russia).

Man in UK charged with crimes against humanity in Syria
The 58-year-old man has been charged in relation to his time working in the Syrian Air Force Intelligence.
NEW: Arrest in London of former Syrian Air Force intelligence officer. For years the Syria work of the War Crimes Unit at Counter Terrorism Command (Met Police) has focused on 'structural investigations', but this apparently follows tip off by Syrians in London. #UJ 1/2

General Sir Richard Shirreff: "if Britain is involved, our hand is in the mangle... we should not in any way, shape or form be involved with the Americans closely because they are being led by a couple of gung ho nutters without a proper strategy..."
After that, he let's rip.

Is the UK's intervention in Iran war legal?
Starmer said Britain would intercept Iranian missiles and allow US to use its bases in defensive action. Does that make the UK complicit in an illegal war?
British PM Starmer says that U.K. bases will only be used for βdefensiveβ operations and not βoffensiveβ ops. But how can that be so when they are being used by the aggressor?
Great discussion here with Milanovic, @adhaque.bsky.social @janinadill.bsky.social

Devastated to learn that the great Yanar Mohammed, founder of the Organization for Women's Freedom in Iraq, was assassinated today by 'unknown' gunmen in Baghdad.

Sudan: Hallmarks of Genocide in El-Fasher Report of the independent international fact-finding mission for the Sudan - Advance Unedited Version (A/HRC/61/77) - Sudan
UN Document in English on Sudan about Protection and Human Rights; published on 17 Feb 2026 by UN HRC
"The body of evidence we collected ... leaves only one reasonable inference," said UN expert Mona Rishmawi. "The RSF acted with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, the Zaghawa and Fur communities in El-Fasher. These are the hallmarks of genocide."

What the Afghan data breach and superinjunction reveal about the MoDβs culture of impunity
In Portcullis House on Tuesday, former Secretary of State for Defence Rt Hon Sir Ben Wallace told the Defence Committee that βthere is always a danger with that organisation that they confuse elitism ...
I sat in on the Defence Committee last week as former ministers were questioned about the MoD's Afghan data breach.
In my latest blog post for @ceasefirecentre.bsky.social, I consider what the data breach and superinjunction reveal about the culture inside the MoD and what needs to change.
