When someone tells you their business is generating "seven figures," it's totally fair to ask between which figures the decimal point appears.

I read a lot of complaints on LinkedIn and elsewhere about how silly the job-seeking process is: Filling in three different forms with the same info, general lack of transparency about salary/benefits, etc. I'm interested to read the explanation of WHY it needs to be like that. Who's defending this?
The 1980s Missouri teenager in me is screaming, βSchools are closed for THIS?β Winter storm, Carolina-style.
βThe problem is complex,β says only developed country in the world that hasnβt solved it. The US is to health care what I was to my 9th-grade algebra class.
And not a minute too soon.
How did this poster get hold of a picture of my desk from 2001?

Good read here from the Post and Courierβs Brian Hicks. Nut graf: βFirst, and I say this with no small amount of envy, some people simply donβt have enough to do. β www.postandcourier.com/opinion/comm...
Descartes, Hume, Hobbes, Kant, Thomas Paine, all those guys were basically βinfluencers,β right?
Ultimately, this is the way. And it still does not necessarily preclude the idea of offering premium content at a cost. But the danger of keeping vital information paywalled while letting venal misinformation roam free is now incredibly evident.

If you like poker, I know a cool place online where smart people are talking about nothing but poker. Worth checking out: www.poker.org/ask-the-org/...
Any chance we could start calling it the Affordable Care Act and stop calling it Obamacare? Just asking.
Been a year since my dad died. Youngest kid came over for dinner tonight, and we got to comparing genetic quirks (sheβs left-handed, canβt roll her tongue and hates cilantro). It gave me an opening to talk about family and re-tell some of the good stories. Very therapeutic. #family
Iβve been keeping my drafts in @notion.com for all my social posts β helps me keep track of what Iβve posted where, and bonus β I no longer accidentally post or post something unedited. Has really helped me slow down a bit and think before I post, too
Kathleen Turner and Brad Pitt were the vanguard. Yβall never suspected a thing and now EVERYBODY wants Andyβs Frozen Custard.
Youβre ALL stuck at the stoplight at Glenstone and Sunshine now.

This SNL skit from last night name-checks my hometownβs OβReilly Auto Parts. Between this, Chappell Roan, and that story a couple years ago in WSJ about Bass Pro trucker hats becoming a celeb fashion accessory, the Springfieldification of America is now complete.
Sad. For 2,300 people, they could play at McDonald Arena and put a super-nice (and probably fairly lucrative) parking deck on the Great Southern Bank Arena site.
My takeaway from this story of what appears to have been a great game between a couple of pretty good mid-major hoops teams: The attendance. 2,364?? @lscranton.bsky.social thatβs a Weiser Gym crowd. Where is everybody?
