everyone i know...everyone i don't know, but my friends/family do...& also everyone else that we don't know & will never meet but whose lives are worth just as much as anyone else's! no one deserves to have hellfire rained upon them like this (except maybe war criminals like bibi & co + trump & co🖕)

never been so grateful to have load of excel dataset work to do that will take forever - what is usually a tedious slog is now a welcome distraction from obsessively watching the world burn for the stupidest fucking "reasons" and worrying about the safety/wellbeing of like, everyone i know 🤦🏻♀️ again.

Is there even one Italian or French child of ~10 who can honestly pretend they have never heard of a "minister" or "civil service" to the point that the entire concept of executive government must be explained from zero? This person was TWENTY and is otherwise intelligent! Just clueless & oblivious.

I first thought it was a language issue. Then she asked "what is a minister" & i realized that no, she literally doesn't understand me. On a continent of privilege, the Swiss truly live in a unique luxury bubble. They simply haven't had to think about politics at all, unlike all their neighbors!

had to explain what a policy is, what a government is, what a cabinet is, what a minister is, what a govt ministry/dept does, why they do things, and what a civil service is for...to a swiss student who is like 20! Truly a privilege to literally never once have to wonder how anything works or why.

The election of Trump—both of them—will reduce the scope of every American’s future, as well as reducing the scope of who can be and will want to be an American

The consequences of this war for Americans will be bleak and take decades to unfold, but it will impoverish and provincialize them in ways that would have been unimaginable ten years ago

Historians are quite capable of explaining the hellscape that is the US at this particular minute, and its kind of telling that you imagine we won't because it means you haven't been listening or reading

Anyway, tip of the cap to all the people in DC who attached themselves to building regime collapse in Iran because that's where the career opportunities were. Hope those positions and networks were worth it.

There's a certain gleeful embrace of it, and of 'permission' to benefit from these hierarchies, among a certain kind of American who ends up working there, too.

this undeniable fact is a major reason why I was never comfortable going back out there as an adult to work. 🤷🏻♀️ I hope more and more people will begin to really see and understand what such repugnant racial hierarchies signify, and what horrors they produce.

It’s already happening. Iran attacked a desalination plant in Bahrain.
This war has to end immediately. If it turns into a water war we will be dealing with a whole different level of a humanitarian catastrophe across the region.
