Look wake up this is serious. Chatbots are driving people insane. It's happening to people you don't think of as mad people. This is a serious danger of the technology that should majorly concern you. It's not safe for vulnerable people, & you don't want to find out the hard way that's you.

There's a concept in disability justice called the dignity of risk: that we believe disabled people should have the right to *fail*. A lot of abled people look at disabled people and think they must be coddled and protected - it's a benevolent bigotry.
I have some regular ongoing gigs where I know everyone, but if I do 2-4 jobs a day and meet at least 2 strangers at each one (probably an underestimate tbh), those numbers add up. My job probably isn’t typical, but there’s a data point for you
Could be! I’m AuDHD myself and I’ve badly misjudged my share of social situations. Appearing friendly is a learnable skill, to a certain extent, but I know it’s complicated—I still don’t love group interactions bc there are too many factors for me to keep track of, compared to 1-1 conversations
I’m a Spanish interpreter, and it’s normal for me to meet half a dozen+ new people per weekday—the Spanish speaker (mostly different people each job) and their English-speaking lawyer/doctor/colleague (I know many local professionals but regularly meet new ones) plus staff at the appointments
When people actually think people are all terrible and rude and mean…I start wondering about the common denominator in all those interactions. It’s good to know a wide variety of people, even if (like me) you like to spend most of your time alone
I definitely joke about being a horrible misanthrope who hardly likes anyone, but I’m actually just easily overwhelmed in social situations. Most people are pretty cool! I meet a lot of them and we mostly get along fine!

I think they’re talking about a policy wrt individual interpreter and translator workflows. They’re talking about problems members could use genAI to solve, but the tools don’t do the things they claim to do! You can’t use genAI to do your billing bc it doesn’t know what a number is!
Same, but I also find it infuriating that the same people whose only goal is supposedly “number go up” are SO BAD at actually doing the things that would print them money. Like “You keep saying you have one goal, then you ruin everything and don’t even maximize that goal!”
i mean it depends, shit is not inevitable,
but we need to elect people who are NOT trying to bring us back to normal, we need to elect people who are interested in (1) punishing the wrongdoing and (2) building something new and better than the status quo ante
