@bergsbites.bsky.social Yes. Public posts are the default (same as Twitter), plus there's no private option here. Blocking still serves a purpose in that it limits that account from interacting with yours.

Blocks are public here too, which is different and not good in my opinion. Mutes are private.

Hey @pfrazee.com @jay.bsky.team, if the network is intended to be public, why are user profiles and posts currently hidden behind a login wall? Will this be changing anytime soon?

On Bluesky "mutes are completely private" but "your block list is public". Why? Seems confusing and potentially harmful.

Important: Similar to your likes, your block list is public data!

While users of the Bluesky app can’t easily find this list now, the data is public and enumerable at the protocol level. This means that third-party apps or clients can surface and display your list.

Yep! 1 bit of information per pixel means on or off, black or white. So there's not even grayscale in this image, just the illusion of it.

They do strip EXIF. Looks like everything gets converted to a .JPG with minimal metadata attached. This is good. 🔒

Bluesky has a "goal of having large scale search and discovery (rather than the hashtag style of discovery that ActivityPub favors)."

So, hashtags are not really needed here.

Hashtags not really used here, eh? I see a few here and there, but they aren't clickable, and don't really seem surfaced in the UI. Is this by design for the platform, or just not implemented yet?
