When I say "No rush!" I usually mean "Actually some rush, but I'm being nice"
Dockerfiles are just shitty Procfiles. Fight me
Oh, you want to make the contrast 3:1? Don't worry, we have a dEsIgN sYsTeM where we've defined all 37 brand colors and their dark mode variants as CSS variables and then referenced them all across the codebase in both CSS and TS
Same. I need a leg day or two.
I genuinely have no idea how it's feasible to expect anyone to make this migration
Sure, you can use `import()`. But now you can only import from within async code. The migration path means you no longer have imports at the top of the file, since there's no top-level await in commonjs modules.
Even if the answer was a new, `requireImport()` method that you had to switch to so that you could migrate your leaf modules piecemeal, that would be preferable. Instead, the powers that be said "old projects, get fucked".
ESM is honestly the worst thing to happen to Node. The fact that you can't require() an ES module (and have Node synchronously block until the module is fully resolved) is psychopathic.
Every large project built on commonjs is suddenly stuck, unless you want to invest in a large, costly migration.
tee hee
I was interviewed by Al Chen for the Dear Analyst podcast a little while ago, and the episode just popped if you want to hear me talk about some of my old work: www.thekeycuts.com/dear-analyst...
MicroSD is short for Microsoft standard definition
Migrating a typescript Node app to ESM is one of the most perverse things I've ever engaged in. The Node folks really fucked this one up.
Instead of "oh god" normalize saying "dear neptune"
Yeah I work in FinTech. I help those sharks swim SO fast
Black Friday should happen right after daylight savings switches over as a little apology
It doesn't help that I keep getting Eric Adams and George Santos confused.
I've been away from social media for so long that I don't know how to let other people tell me how to feel about Eric Adams rn
