A lovely snowy March evening in Boulder.
In the foreground, scattered conifers rise from rolling hills. Their dark forms stand sharply against the lighter slopes, the trees irregularly spaced across the ridgelines. Snow lies in long streaks along the contours of the hills, settling into shallow draws and shaded folds while leaving exposed patches of grass and soil on the windward slopes. Beyond the nearer ridges, the terrain steps gradually upward through a series of darker bands. Each successive layer of hills becomes softer and more muted, the details fading as they recede into the distance. This atmospheric perspective gives the scene depth, with the nearer forests textured and crisp while the distant mountains appear smoother and more uniform. Along the horizon, the higher peaks of the Boulder Mountains form a broad, uneven skyline. Their upper slopes are dusted with snow, highlighting ridges and shallow bowls carved by weather and time. The snow accentuates the mountain structure, tracing the angles of the terrain in pale streaks. Above the mountains, the sky is filled with stacked, horizontal cloud bands. Thick layers of cloud stretch across the frame, some heavy and flat, others rising into rounded forms. Their shadows create subtle gradations of gray, echoing the layered hills below. Without color, the scene emphasizes form, contrast, and scale—the rhythm of hills, forests, and distant peaks beneath a sky that seems wide and slowly moving. The result is quiet and austere, capturing the broad, open character of central Montana’s mountain country.
Happy Friday-Eve Everyone 🙏

There is a healing in breadth—in wide valleys, long slopes, and the unbroken line of a horizon. -Muir

Shout out to TJ Maxx. Just visited and purchased some spring clothes. I was impressed with reasonable prices. Clerk informed me their business model is to be recession proof!
