This is so interesting as I've been thinking about taking an indexing course!

All the opportunities for evil have been used up elsewhere, they took your allowance. You're stuck just doing good deeds, sorry! π

In 2025 we raised ~$300 to fund a new website which remains unspent. As our final act upon this material plane, we will be using that money to award 6x $50 USD micro grants to ttrpg designers or content creators that could use a small boost.

Feeling festive as I've just sent round the giftees for the work Secret Santa π₯° For the last few years I've been using the excellent planner from @mael.dev, which uses a clever link and is beautifully simple. It does exactly what I want for Secret Santa and no more, and I love it
The American Library Association Core Subject Analysis Committee's Working Group on Local Headings seeks to survey libraries, archives, museums and associated institutions about their involvement in the work of revising subjects, genres, and other authority data in their local catalogs.

Yikes, I had no idea it was illegal and quite often do it before binning my coffee cup or repacking my reusable cup. The drain is also where the soapy water from washing my car ends up when it runs off the car.
Did you make the bag? That looks so practical.

An amazing thread about someone saving two lives via bone marrow and stem cell donations
Me too!! I'm rarely delicious at home, but I seem to be some sort of feast here
Well, Siena is a bit smaller but still has a lot to see, so not sure that helps your poor feet π
Yes! Just done a hostel in Florence and now heading to Siena. Could have spent a lot longer in Florence, there's a lot to see.

I have been holding off until I have time to properly devour it--hopefully this weekend!
Me too, and your reply reminded me to book somewhere to stay! π A couple of days in Florence and then a couple in Siena to make sure I have time for some sightseeing π
Yes! I did read this one and very much enjoyed it.
Ooh I didn't but I'll have a look, thank you! I'm referring to is the primo one but same vendor so I imagine similar-- everything gets an AI now.
Who's going to #igelu2025? I'm getting to go in person (woo, Siena!) and there are so many good sessions. Also a ton on AI--I'm interested to hear how people are evaluating the "research assistant" and if they've turned it on.
That's where it being punny comes in! π I agree, I don't think the badge is motivation in itself, but as a potential conversation starter or to show what I've done, I think it beats digital. For me the best rewards apart from the learning itself, are a recognised certificate or qualification.
I'd be much more interested in a real, physical badge! π I don't see any point in a digital badge--who is ever going to see it? If the badge can also be punny, that's a bonus.
βIβm just saying weβd collect more nectar if we werenβt in meetings all dayβ
From the new Private Eye, out now.
Iβm looking for an accessible reading suggestion for non-librarians to better understand what an βarchiveβ is and is not (vs a digital collection, a catalog, etc.) Any ideas? ππ» #DH #critlib
