Like sliders for enemy health, player damage dealt, player damage taken. Nine Sols did a pretty good job with that. The game was still hard, but you could dial back how much damage you took in 10% chunks. I think damage dealt was the same.

I bet they're taking inspiration from mobile games, which often have some sort of automated battle option. But that's generally for really grind-y, tedious stuff.

A combination of multiple difficulty sliders and accessibility settings would be better if we're trying to give people an easier time.
