Oil portrait painting of Joseph Brant (Thayendanegea), the Mohawk Chief. He stands in a three-quarter pose facing left, gazing directly at the viewer with a serious expression. He wears traditional Mohawk regalia: a red and white feathered headdress, a white ruffled shirt, a large silver gorget and armband, multiple silver trade brooches and medals across his chest, a black sash, and a dark cloak over one shoulder. His right hand rests on a tomahawk tucked into a colorful sash at his waist. The background is dark and dramatic with swirling clouds. In the lower right corner, gold lettering reads: "Thayendanegea, Joseph Brant, The Mohawk Chief." The painting is framed in an ornate gold frame.

Thayendanegea (Joseph Brant) was one of the most important Indigenous leaders of the late-18th and early-19th centuries.
A gifted diplomat, he spent his life fighting for the right for his people to remain on ancestral lands.
This is his story.

A black-and-white photograph of a crowded street scene on Front Street in Dawson, dated July 4, with numerous people, many wearing hats, gathered in front of buildings with signs for "Criterion" and "DuBois Clothing, Hats, Boots, Shoes." Some individuals are on rooftops, and a banner advertises a "Two Hundred Room Private Hospital." The background features a hilly landscape under a partly cloudy sky.

On Aug. 16, 1896, four individuals were stopped along Rabbit Creek in northern Canada. In the water, one of them saw something that changed Canada forever: gold.
That discovery sparked the Klondike Gold Rush.
This is the story of some of those involved in that discovery.

The black-and-white photo depicts a group of male athletes in mid-stride during a race on a cinder track, with the central figure crossing the finish line, arms raised in victory. The athletes are wearing numbered athletic uniforms, and a crowd is visible in the background along with flags and buildings, suggesting a historical sporting event.

On this day in 1930, the first British Empire Games (now the Commonwealth Games) were held in Hamilton, Ontario.
The Games featured 11 nations and 400 athletes competing in 59 events. Canada finished second behind England with 54 medals.
