A Roman fresco showing Europa riding on the back of a large bronze-brown bull. Three other richly attired women stand alongside them, one of whom - in a deep red dress - strokes the muzzle of the bull.
#FrescoFriday - A particularly splendid fresco from the House of Jason (IX.5.18), Pompeii. It depicts the moment of calm before Zeus, in the guise of a bull, abducts Europa. #Pompeii #AncientBluesky πΊ

A bit of Colchester's Roman wall with grass and wildflowers growing around it.
Colchester in Essex has the oldest and best-preserved Roman wall in Britain. At 2.8 kms, it is also one of the longest. It was constructed circa AD 65-80 in the aftermath of the Boudican revolt and stood up to 6 metres hight #WallsonWednesday
