Independent Women 2026 – The Influence List Marking International Women’s Day, The Independent has compiled its annual list of the 50 most influential women across the worlds of politics, sport, the arts, media, business, fashion and activism –...

This is quite the list of inspirational women from @the-independent.com for #IWD #InternationalWomensDay and I’m proud to be included at number 20…

What Reform UK’s senior figures really think about women and families As Reform UK surges in the polls and attempts to get its top team ready to fight an election, The Independent has taken a look at exactly what key figures in the party have said about marriage, women,...

Reform UK would be a disaster for women. By scrapping the Employment Rights Act and abolishing the Equality Act, Reform would set women’s rights back a generation.

This #IWD, May and beyond, tell Farage and friends to get their hands off our hard-fought rights. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

The Labour Party has proudly supported more women than ever into the House of Commons. Thanks to our history of positive action, plus quality training including the #JoCoxLeadership Scheme, at the last General Election, 190 @labouruk.bsky.social women were elected as MPs.Β  Tories elected just 29.

This Labour Government is delivering for women and empowering women by halving violence against women and girls, closing the gender pay gap, strengthening women’s rights at work, reforming childcare and improving women’s health.

It was @labouruk.bsky.social that introduced landmark legislation like the Equal Pay Act and the Sex Discrimination Act, family allowances and maternity leave, and the right to request flexible working.

A great visit to The East Manchester Academy today.

Pupils quizzed me on the cost of living, the conflict in the Middle East, social media access as well as my own route into politics.

I also got to see the fantastic work pupils were doing to mark International Women’s Day.

Lucy Powell: Andy Burnham would β€˜probably’ have won in Go... In Manchester the morning after Labour’s bad night before, its deputy leader shows Rachel Sylvester where she went clubbing on school nights, explains why she cried when she got into Oxford – and say...

Enjoyed taking @rachelsylvester.bsky.social on a walk around some of Manchester’s political and social landmarks-talking about the result in Gorton and Denton, school nights at the Hacienda, and women in politics amongst other things. Even after only 2 hours sleep…

The result in Gorton and Denton is very disappointing. We will reflect, act & continue to learn lessons in the coming days & weeks. Today, I want to thank Angeliki Stogia for her energy & positivity over the campaign, the brilliant Labour staff & thousands of volunteers who worked their socks off.

We are positive going into polling day because it’s only Labour that maintains support across both parts of the constituency.

That’s why we are the main contenders.

Police swarm Manchester Central Mosque as men 'armed with axe and knife' enter Police confirmed one arrest was made, while a search is underway for the other suspect

Very concerning incident at Manchester Central Mosque. Thanks to the vigilance of volunteers and the action of police a more serious incident was avoided. Those responsible must face full force of the law.

We must root out Islamophobia and Muslim hate and all those who perpetrate it.

Making work and housing less secure is bowing down to vested interests not taking them on.

Only Labour can defeat Reform and their anti worker, anti renter policies in Gorton and Denton.

Voters are increasingly recognising that. See the whole picture πŸ‘‡
