she is home and settling in :)
:) we have adopted a new baby, no name yet, she is a portly little ex street cat with one eyebrow
look how cute it is!!!! these plants grow on exposed cliffs in their native range. They don’t get much bigger than in these pics!
someone important arrived today, Nepenthes Bellii, Bell’s Pitcher plant, which is (? or one of) the smallest in the genus. I know she looks like every other nepenthes seedling at the moment but when it’s an adult it will be apparent!!
looking like a botanical illustration with the lower, intermediate and upper pitchers all in frame
more furniture painting, we’re slowly getting there
8) very happy with how this turned out (i’ve been moving my plants around so just ignore that they’re in different locations)
(just some photograph examples of the large woody base that eventually develops) these plants grow quite slowly, mine wont look like this for many years but i got it because of the slow growing/long lived nature of it
an exciting new addition to my collection, the elephant’s foot plant, a native of south africa, this succulent like plant forms a thick, woody base. The plant is unusual in that its growing season is autumn and winter! In summer the leaves die back and it goes dormant
every year they should let you reveal one secret, when the secrets are all revealed the company vanishes, as if it were never there at all
to get over the refund of my miniature orchid i’ve decided to paint the shelves
THEY REFUNDED ME
dendrobium jenkinsii you will be MINE!!!!
i ordered a miniature orchid for my birthday and the company says they ship out on mondays or tuesdays and it’s tuesday so i better see that shipping notification in my emails TODAY 🫵

THE PHALAENOPSIS MOTTLED LEAF HYBIRD MINI
i have a disease
people of earth please lend me your energy and maybe this vanilla orchid can survive
vanilla orchid cultivation is so involved and labour intensive that i don’t really care to even TRY and get vanilla beans, just having it as a novelty is fun. These guys bloom for only 24 hours and up until the plant is approx. 8 years old, and have to be hand pollinated
thank you local nursery thay gets plants from a former employee in coffs harbour otherwise i would never have seen this vanilla orchid (something i’ve been fantasising about for weeks). So excited to get this in some orchid bark and growing 😭
some scanned sketchbook pages, this is a panorama painting of a view from a local(ish) lookout
the scanned version of a recent painting. I learned a lot with this even if its not one of my best, it was still good
a scanned version of one of my favourite pieces
this baby also popped a new trap and has another on the way - N. Rowaniae
:) 11 days later, the first pitcher has opened. It has some great colouration, a little striping, and some mottling on the inside of the trap. When Nepenthes are young they often have “hairy” trap lids like this little Truncata
i forget how many i have until i decide to give them a bath (this isn’t all of them)
i love growing these weird things thanks
mr speaker fire a warning shot above the leader of the opposition‘s head
