My mind goes to delicious mushrooms, especially the saffron milk cap :3
choosing 19th/20th c. civ representatives like Jose Rizal and Harriet Tubman is a cool acknowledgement of the nature of postcolonial nationalism in the modern era: it's not necessarily heads of state paving the way for independence, but those skilled at capturing & promoting the will of their people
bts playtest applications are open again!

thank you to my boss for letting me post this and thank you to our publisher for not immediately excommunicating us
Definitely trying to capture the beginner audience - EU4 can be an overwhelming game to get into! It is tricky trying to reenter the "clueless beginner" mindset so if you have any memories of things that confused or enlightened you when you first started playing, I'd love to hear it!
A screenshot of Dragon Age: Veilguard's character screen, with a bunch of equipment slots of varying types, along with tabs for other menus. Across the various menu elements, there are 10 different elements with "unread" pips, circled in red.
I had a thread where I complained about how "unread" pips in inventories+menus "drive me crazy". I deleted it; it was an emotional take on a complex design space.
Instead I'll talk about:
1: The problems they're trying to solve
2: Why I think they're often a bad solution
3: Why they happen anyways
Thank you!
People sneer at the medium and bemoan TikTok brain rot etc etc but I've always believed the strongest messages are those that can be conveyed with brevity. I most recently tried to explain EU4's trade system in under a minute, which was uhh a challenge (but lots of fun)
I've been having a lot of fun delving into short form video for EU4! Have a look if you want I guess youtube.com/@europaunive...
I miss its serif typeface era....so classic....so timeless.....
Almost thought I'd lost my most prized possession, an Adobe rubik's cube I found in a tip shop in Tasmania
It's kinda why I like to poke devs to get involved in the occasional bit of community-side work. It's a nice morale boost to see the forest for the trees when you're ass deep in code all day long, for example
woah my name is in a gamerant article π³
Community management for BTS has been SO rewarding and it's not even out yet. Whether it's cutting a trailer reel or writing a dev diary, stepping back to see the big picture of this crazy project is overwhelming in the best way possible.
thankfully our opposition are showing some mana.
Horrified to hear about the NZ government's proposals to reverse MΔori sovereignty. Thank you to my Kiwi colleagues for schooling me on toitΕ« te tiriti β€οΈ
