A Bowmouth Guitarfish, also known as the Shark Ray, cruises along the coral reefs of the Indo Pacific as various tropcial fish school around in the blissfull waters of the reef. Despite being wonderfully bizarre in their own right, the Bowmouth Guitarfish is sadly critically endangered. More than 80% of the population has declined thanks to overfishing decimating their numbers as well as coral bleaching damaging their coral reef habitats. The Bowmouth Guitarfish is a good example on why some cartilaginous fish deserve more attention and love because we may never see these rays again if we keep overfishing and destroying every last coral reef across the globe.

The most bizzare cartilaginous fish thanks to their guitar-shpaed bodies and longbrow mouths. They only come out at night to feed on hard shelled prey, mainly crustaceans.
