My heart was jubilant while reading this story this morning - more than 100 Chinook salmon have passed the former Klamath River dam sites as well as the fish ladder at Klamath Lake and are naturally spawning in Oregon headwaters for the first time in over a century! ๐๐งช๐

One week to apply for our fully funded PhD position in Norway! This is a really exciting project in collab. with University of Helsinki and Benchmark Genetics.
Samples are ready - you do (read: learn) everything - functional genomics, bioinformatics, genotype-phenotype associations ๐คฉ

#SORTEE2025 Conference is about to begin!
Weโre thrilled to announce our first plenary presentation: Advancing Ecology and Evolutionary Research in the Global South - African context by Dr. Israel Borokini
You can still register and find more info on the talk at: sortee.org/upcoming/
Our research group just published a study in Nature on how fish biodiversity in U.S. rivers and streams has been changing over the past 27 years (1993โ2019). The results show sharply diverging trends depending on historic and changing water temperature. ๐งต rdcu.be/eH0l8
Climate change is reshaping the fish communities of rivers across the US - my commentary in @nature.com to accompany the new study led by @rumschsl.bsky.social rdcu.be/eHY6B ๐๐งช
Check out our new paper in Nature describing trends in US freshwater fish biodiversity! Great to be part of such an amazing team.
I am pleased to announce The Macroevolution Lab at Ohio State opens this August! We will be housed in the Museum of Biological Diversity ๐๐ ๐ก
celebrate package:celebrate R Documentation Audio 'announcements' when printing model summaries Description: The only function of this package is to augment the printing of model summaries with appropriate sound effects based on whether you have achieved the magical p<0.05 level of significance for at least one variable (not including the intercept - we have to try to be a _little_ bit sensible ...) Details: Sounds are taken from <http://freesounds.org> To set an alpha-level different from 0.05, you can specify โoptions(celebrate.alpha = <value>)โ โข fanfare: user primordiality, <https://www.freesound.org/people/primordiality/sounds/78823/> (CC BY 3.0) โข trombone: user kirbydx, <https://www.freesound.org/people/kirbydx/sounds/175409/> (CC0) Examples: ## Not run: m1 <- lm(speed~dist, cars) m2 <- lm(Income~Population,data.frame(state.x77)) summary(m1) summary(m2) ## chi-squared test M <- as.table(rbind(c(762, 327, 468), c(484, 239, 477))) dimnames(M) <- list(gender = c("F", "M"), party = c("Democrat","Independent", "Republican")) (Xsq <- chisq.test(M)) # Prints test summary boring <- matrix(c(6,5,4,5), nrow = 2) (chisq.test(boring)) ## End(Not run)
#lirpaloof Since it's already 2025-04-01 for most of the world ... a slightly updated version of the `celebrate` package: `remotes::install_github("bbolker/bbmisc/celebrate")`. (Description: Celebrate your successes and mourn your failures.) Now supports `htest` objects!
