This looks fun so here goes!
#my9games Cafecito edition: not my "top 9" (though all rank very highly) but rather those that have really shaped what gaming means in my life, from how I consume stories and art, to how I engage in family and with gaming community.

Closeup picture of a small pad of paper and a Grey inke pen. The notepad has scribbles of interconnected straight lines at right angles, forming different maze-like paths. No other writing on the pad.
Made some great discoveries during our past stream! But it definitely took some notepad work to figure out.
Indie game fans out there, can you guess what game we were playing?!

Head and shoulders portraits of Ale and Nat next to each other smiling, done in very simple black marker lines on white paper. Signed at the bottom by the artist. Framed in a red cherry colored wood.
Did you know our profile photo is actually from a hand drawn sketch by the amazing WHOSMiNG? Finally got it framed and on the wall at home. Love how this looks now that it's up!

Black and white short haird tuxedo cat is sound asleep on a cushion. Next to her is a Nintendo Switch 2, with the game Pac Man 99 on the screen.
She said she's not moving from this spot until they bring back Pac Man 99...

Ok how many after-credits scenes does this Olympics closing ceremony have?! We're on at least 9 at this point...
Hand drawn art from the game Pancito Merge. Two women friends are walking away from a a bakery excited with their purchase of goodies. One is turned back waving goodbye to the baker, who is leaning out of a small window with wooden shutters. A dog is just below the baker's window looking excited.
We're playing Pancito Merge again today, to celebrate that it's just launched on Nintendo Switch and to try to reclaim some leaderboard spots!
Come on by at twitch.tv/javaconleche
Because what better to do on a snow blizzard day than more gaming?!

Story art from the video game Sliding Hero, shown in four panels. First: a large looming figure in flowing robe with shoulder pads shaped as lion's heads. Second: Close up of the figures feet as he stands on a pool of water. The reflection shows a figure in similar dress but different colors. Third: A woman with pink wavy hair, and a man in a blue and red Venetian mask look upward with concern. Fourth: The blue and red masked man seen from above, standing on a pool of water. The reflection below him is the similar but larger figure from the first panel.
Just completed Sliding Hero by @silentchicken.bsky.social; a movement #puzzlegame that hooked me for hours on end. The solutions are really challenging sometimes, well built and rewarding! Story not so deep, but holds up nicely while the mechanic and beautiful artwork shine!

Digital title art for the game Sliding Hero, showing a figure in a Venetian era bright red and blue and gold jester outfit diving forward dramatically towards the viewer. The background shows a large intricate castle complex in shades of purple.
Sliding Hero was one of our favorite Steam NextFest demos last year and we're excited that the full game is available now!
Firing it up for the first time on stream right now: twitch.tv/javaconleche
It's a pixelart movement puzzle. He just can't stop sliding!

Trying out this "go live" status new feature on BlueSky as we fire up the Twitch stream for Final Fantasy Tactics!
Come hang at twitch.tv/javaconleche as we play yet another re-release of this masterpiece. Yes they'll take my money every time they re-release ๐

Pocket sized Traveler's Notebook with graph lined paper, has a written list under the header "Steam Reviews To-Do" The listed games on the checklist are Roki, Pancito Merge, Unsighted, One Shot, and Dark Queen of Mortholme. Two of the checkbook are ticked off as being complete (Unsighted, and One Shot)
Reminder to review #indiegames that you love! I often see comments from devs about how much it helps with discovery on Steam.
Since we started doing some games journaling, one item will be an ongoing list of Steam reviews to write!
Took a little time to write two of them today. ๐

I wanted to write about Arknights: Endfield, as it is the latest anime gacha open world to arrive on the scene. The more I played, the more I realized how normalized gambling has become in the gaming industry and how it should be categorically rejected.
Picture from my perspective while laying in bed. A long-haired cat flopped on the bed looking at something towards the window with her ears perked up. A book in the foreground and a wardrobe/drawers in the background.
Similar to the first picture, but now the cat is looking towards the camera.
POV stuck in bed on a Saturday morning because you're weighed down by a furball.

Probably a great article like all of yours! But my god this picture of discs out on table unsecured and the box sitting on top of the discs is giving me deep stress. ๐คฃ

Square lined paper journal page. The top of the page says "Completed Games 2026" in green and purple bubble font. A list of 4 games appears so far, with various January completion dates. The games are: Dark Queen of Mortholme; South of Midnight; Hell Clock, and; Malapetaka
My effort to get into a habit of games journaling continues!
Keeping it simple while I warm up to this - first up a 2026 completed list!
@monstertheater.bsky.social @hellclockgame.bsky.social @sanditiojitok.bsky.social @compulsiongames.bsky.social are the first entries ๐

As dangerously cold temperatures move through New York, we have opened 10 warming centers across all five boroughs to provide safe, heated indoor spaces for New Yorkers in need.
Centers will be open through at least Monday evening at the following locations โ>

Too many ways that could just get eaten by capitalism (buy this toy to get the next clue!)...
But maybe story clues built around classic literature or art, where you'd actually have to read or view the piece to make the connection?
In both instances there were different clues that led you to websites that then contained more info that was relevantto advancing in the game. One was pretty straightforward, but the other one was a little less obvious about the fact that it was pointing to something outside of the game.
Games that engage with something outside of the game, i.e. that make you find a solution in some other real world or online setting that is not within the game itself. I've bumped into a couple relatively recently and it's always a surprising element.
Cover art for the upcoming video game "Work Work Work." It shows a man in business outfit looking tired and stressed. Paper files and documents seem to be flying out of his brain. The background is wavy red lines giving a feeling of confusion and stress.
Mashed the wishlist button immediately on this one.
If you haven't tried TEST TEST TEST, a free to play mindbending work-die-repeat experiment, go do it.
And if you have, then look out for this one from @togeproductions.bsky.social @mojiken.bsky.social going from concept to full game!

Got hooked on the @justcamh.bsky.social Nonolith demo after seeing @thinkygames.com post about it.
Managed to find Eight out of Six collectables ๐
Super interesting experience! Will definitely been looking forward to this one.
