Blondie is certainly a case of that. Most of them tend to exist solely in their aeromorph form until "course-corrected". Also true for Blondie.

Orca doesn't even want to exist in his human form at all anymore, because it feels restricitve to him now.

Depends individually; Rou takes his death like a champ (but also he's not normal in his head lmao; he's the kind of guy who'd take pain over boredom because the latter is the real torture to him), so he's pretty much himself post-death.

Most others tend to loose themselves in their anger and trauma

You become a plane monster btw if the following criteria are met:

- obsessively/regularly played a specific arcade game in the 80s
- experienced a particularly painful or traumatic death (which triggers the modification)
- needing to take some form of revenge for it

At least that is about as far as I got with worldbuilding and concepting, stuff might be subject to change if it needs to to fit into all of it.

Unless brainwashed or otherwise forced to operate under fractions and directions, they tend to have their own (often but not always destructive) agendas.

Orca for example REALLY has it out for whaling boats and will crush them under his body wherever he finds them.

They do recognize the human world, yes! Later in the story both Blondie and Rou move through it, albeit their participation in it is limited; all fleshly pleasures can only be experienced as memories, since their bodies are not per se real, just manifestations, so they function a little differently!

They do not initially recognize one another in their jet forms, however, they can manifest in their human forms, too. The jet form is some sort of boss amor; if you beat it down hard enough it "comes off" und reveals who's beneath it

Typically they exist kind of on their own merits; many of them choose solitude due to being traumatized by their death and often feeling a sense of betrayal towards mankind or certain fractions for different reasons.
