South Staffs. Waterworks Co., Hinksford Pumping Station 1898 on the Stour Cut. Three Lancashire type boilers supplied with coal via canal barge rather than road transport (steam removed in ‘48).

It was roofless and in a sorry state when I first visited 30 odd years ago re-roofed with some renovation work early 2000s

Catherine is south of the border (expect English Midlands pics) but before she left she helped Yvonne our project artist hang a ‘mini version’ of the 5 Bings exhibition at the Coalfields Regeneration Trust HQ in Kincardine its a working space - we will post visiting times shortly

From bing to brick the adjacent Cherryton Brickworks at Tullygarth #Clackmannan. Opened in the mid 1930s into voluntary liquidation in ‘77 bought by the Minto Brick Company and operated until 1980. Served by the Alloa to Dunfermline railway now a footpath/cycle way #brickhistory

Catherine spent a lovely afternoon chatting to Janie who grew up in the colliery cottages adjacent to the Lady Helen Colliery and Fiona her niece. Their stories will bring the 3rd #Cardenden walk #Dundonald #Fife to life. The route is currently in development #MiningLandscapes

Project mascots Ratticus and Carbonara are a tad perturbed a recent find (ca. 18C) from the Airthery Copper Mine dig suggests that Rattus Carbonicus (Coal Rat) was either not native to Fife and coal or they roamed much further than previously thought. Investigations underway….
