Fantastic interview. I have a lot of respect for Pedro Gonzalez - it takes a lot of courage and integrity to break out from a political movement that is so warped. Thank you to Know Your Enemy for making the space - a lot of helpful insights into the cravenness that is the Right today.

Building on this, I’d recommend Michael Sandel’s The Tyranny of Merit - which takes down the philosophical underpinnings of educational policy as a means for solving inequality and Jane McAlevey’s critique of the educated Left’s hubris about their role in social change.

β€œEducation is not primarily about workforce development. Education is about identity. It is about who we are as a people, what stories we tell about ourselves, and what kind of citizens we are forming.” As a former veteran educator, this is a spot-on assessment.

Is AI Coming for Our Jobs? Podcast Episode Β· Confronting Capitalism with Vivek Chibber Β· 02/18/2026 Β· 53m

Found this to be fascinating and a really important discussion of AI grounded in a materialist/Marxist analysis. A great jumping off point for crafting a political program responsive to our political moment.

Saw β€œMy Dinner with Andre.” I must be an idiot, but I didn’t get it. Came away thinking it had some interesting ideas, but given that almost the entire β€œmovie” was just the monologues recited back and forth, it would have worked better as a radio-play. And I actually enjoyed β€œJeanne Dielman.”

The argument about whether a murderer is a racist murderer or not a racist murderer is possibly the greatest distraction conceivable. What does it have to do with the fact that a gov’t agent killed someone without cause and the government officials are justifying it because of who the victim was?

I’m not sure people appreciate this enough.

Both interviews are good. The second particularly. The β€œreactionary Left” should mature past rejecting everything tainted by the whiff of wrong-Thought and just taking what is useful simply b/c it’s useful. Turns out Berger became a virulent anti-racist. Maybe the whole debate is a distraction.

One the things I hate most about the pmc is their tendency to knowingly laugh when discussing deeply serious topics. Like, it might be horrific, but hey - it doesn’t affect them, so they can chuckle at the absurdity of something so horrifying. Please stop.

Particularly liked Battistoni, I have found her work compelling for some time. I wonder if Hardt/Negri’s concept of commonwealth gets us anywhere in how to deal with Nature in a property-rights framework. Maybe there is some potentially interesting work to be done on property/sovereignty/Nature.

Sad to hear Rep. Golden is not running for another term. I hope he reconsiders. Work like this is so important.

The interview with Eric Blanc is particularly good. It shouldn’t be controversial given the lessons of history; socialism in the US is only possible through the ballot box and electoral success requires a proven record of actually making life better for people. Sewer socialists for the win!

I’d frame it slightly differently: ”[Since] Republicans keep blocking legislation to cut housing costs, Democrats will pass it ourselves when we take back Congress.”

I feel like the Left YIMBY/NIMBY debate is just another front in the materialist/utopian debate. And I believe Marx settled that one 150 years ago.

The takeaway: more socialists need to read Capital.

Zohran adding YIMBYs to his transition team is resulting in some absolutely incredible Left NIMBY crashouts over on Twitter. This is my favorite.

No cause evictions leave tenants at the mercy of landlords for stable jobs, kids’ education, and strong communities. It’s a terrible power to have.
