True. And people who like you don’t enjoy seeing you like that. I learnt through parenting that if I want my daughter to be okay, I have to be okay first and if I do everything for her, nothing for me, it makes her feel guilty. That’s the opposite of what I want.

We’re made to think that putting ourselves first and protecting our peace is horribly selfish when in fact people who actually like you don’t ask you to put them before you, especially not to your detriment. I’m just saying.

I know I’m not gonna make friends with my opinion here. That’s okay. 🤷🏻‍♀️

People like to say “in a world where you can be everything, be kind”.

I don’t disagree, but I’d like to add that it’s important to be yourself, protect your peace and put yourself first sometimes. Also, being kind and being polite/nice sometimes aren’t the same. Just thoughts.

The thing is this: not knowing in advance when you‘re not going to be available disqualifies you from a lot of jobs and welfare isn’t great tbh. I can work, I have a brother who can’t because some days he can’t sleep and he‘d spiral if he‘d try to work on those.

It does also disqualify you from part time jobs if you don’t know when the day is going to be at least a day in advance. I say this as someone who can work.

people just assume disability and chronic illness mean you are the same kind of disabled every day. that couldn't be further from the truth. and we have an employment system designed with very little flexibility in that regard
