We examine trust in nursing home service providers.
Based on a national survey of relatives of nursing home residents in Spain, our findings show that the following conditions have a positive effect on general trust and on its three dimensions: benevolence, integrity, and competence:

3/ However, perceptions are shaped by alignment: regulators and executive branch actors with similar professional trajectories view RBs more favorably, while societal actorsβoften disconnected from the βshared languageβ of regulatorsβtend to be more critical.
2/ Neither professional diversity nor expertise alone significantly impacts how regulatory bodies are perceived by regime actors.
1/ Contrary to popular belief, ministries, often seen as traditional bureaucracies, are just as capable of integrating highly specialized experts as new regulatory agencies. This suggests that the long-held notion of regulatory agencies as uniquely expert-driven may thus be overstated.

All these cases have been developed within the framework of the P-CUBE project (Erasmus+). We can use these cases to discuss topics such as accountability reforms, crisis management, challenges in implementing artificial intelligence in social service provision, and market regulation.
