U.S. sales of all-electric heat pumps beat gas furnaces once again last year.
Walz: "We have got children in Minnesota hiding in their houses, afraid to go outside. Many of us grew up reading that story of Anne Frank. Somebody is gonna write that children's story about Minnesota."
The U.S. is short 80,000 electricians, with the gap projected to hit 224,000 by 2030. Solar apprenticeships are filling this need while offering rural workers a chance to earn while they learn—no traditional college required.https://bit.ly/4pSeDo3
The Grid and the Scam.
Ohio’s largest utility wants to slash solar net-metering payments, which would surely discourage customers from putting panels on their homes.
“Dutch people cycle an average of 2.6km each per day. If this pattern was replicated worldwide, annual carbon emissions would drop by 686 million tonnes.
This mammoth figure exceeds the entire carbon footprint of most countries, including the UK, Canada, Saudi Arabia and Australia.” @euronews.com
How did a climate change curmudgeon become an unexpected optimist? Two words: solar power.
On @revealnews.org's “More To The Story,” environmental activist @billmckibben.bsky.social talks about why harnessing the sun is our best chance to rein in the effects of climate change.
“The country’s grid operator says shifting from coal to clean power is not only possible but inevitable.“
“This is not a climate-zealot kind of approach. Our old coal-fired power stations are… getting replaced by the least-cost energy, which is renewable energy.”
Love Australia’s no-bullshit vibe.
With higher utility bills, a house that produces more energy than it uses may be appealing. In southern California, one such house has existed for more than a decade. NPR's Jeff Brady visited the "Green Idea House" in Hermosa Beach, California.
The President of the United States is threatening to go to war with an American city.
This is not a joke. This is not normal.
Donald Trump isn't a strongman, he's a scared man. Illinois won’t be intimidated by a wannabe dictator.
Unthinkable 20 years ago when I started to work on energy:
The world may finally be hitting peak coal, as wind, solar and hydro continue to grow and will overtake coal generation perhaps already in 2026.

The Trump administration has terminated Solar for All. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin claims the “big beautiful bill” authorizes clawback of $7B in contracted funds — a claim that Sen. Moore Capito (R) has called "ridiculous." Cue the court challenges: www.canarymedia.com/articles/sol...

Ohioans can expect their electric bills to keep going up. Last year's auction to ensure the grid operator serving Ohio could meet demand saw capacity prices shoot up more than 830%. In the most recent auction, prices rose even higher ohiocapitaljournal.com/2025/07/29/g...
In states without policies to drive renewable energy, power prices could surge as federal tax incentives for clean energy disappear, according to Energy Innovation, a think tank.
Among all the big bad things happening on our planet, there's one Big Good Thing, the sudden, startling rise of solar energy.
It changes the power dynamic, in every sense of the word 'power.'

The GOP aims to kill green energy, but it's their constituents who will lose.
Red-state voters “will be losing out on jobs that they would have been getting otherwise, but they might not know that.”
AOC and Bernie in front of the rally crowd in Denver
Zoomed out crowd shot of 34,000 people in downtown Denver with Colorado mountains in the background
Tonight an unbelievable **34,000 people** gathered for our Denver rally to take on billionaires and win our country back.
This was the largest political gathering in Denver since Obama in 2008.
Also bigger than the 2024 DNC.
And the largest ever rally in Bernie’s career (and obviously, mine too).
We expected 2,000 people out in GOP-held Greeley, Colorado.
11,000 people showed up.
Something special is happening, folks. Now is the time to organize in every dimension possible and get to work.
20 years for vandalizing a Tesla, pardons for storming the Capitol. Pretty well sums it up.
A top economics reporter goes off script on national TV: “I am going to say this at risk of my job, but what President Trump is doing is insane.”
Trump is using the White House to make a commercial for the richest man in the world while Americans’ 401ks are plummeting.
Imagine if Joe Biden had reposted a liberal pundit saying ‘shut up about gas prices’ in 2022. It would have led the news, all of the news, for days, weeks, on end.
Whenever you welcome guests, treat them with kindness, grace and respect. Simple as that.
What products will be impacted by Trump’s Tax on Working families? Be prepared to spend more on:
- Groceries (Fruits, vegetables, beer, beef, potatoes, and oil)
- Cars and Gas
- Sneakers
- Clothes
- Appliances
- Lumber and building materials

This is climate arson, yes, but also the entire value proposition of Tesla, the reason for its insane stock price, is that it would end up the Amazon of electric cars: the only real game in town. Killing off non-Tesla electric car infrastructure is a gift to Musk.
Medicaid is not for sale.
NASA is not for sale.
The Post Office is not for sale.
America is not for sale.
We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.
First nuclear weapons management, now this. No one - Democrat or Republican - voted for this kind of incompetence.
