When I was in grade school we had a field trip to a California mission, where, among other aspects of mission life, we were shown how they made candles out of tallow. Ever since then, I’ve had an aversion to any food cooked in “candle wax”. 🐂🕯️
2 black dogs snuggling on a brown leather sofa. Dex, in the blue collar, has his face turned away from the camera as he sleeps curled up against the arm of the couch. Kira, in the pink collar, is asleep with her head on Dex’s back. Her long legs are stretched out and crossed in front of her.
My phone is full of pics of my 2, snuggling and snoozing. Beholding their peace and comfort gives me a moment of respite from the harsh reality of the day to day shit-show unfolding across the country.

So I just learned about the Lemon Pig last night. Made one. But now I’m wondering: Am I supposed to save it for the whole year? How has your pig managed not to simply decay in a gross and messy way? It looks remarkably well preserved.
The photo is misleading. Looks like it was a stock photo off Canva? I mean, I have little doubt that an actual Joro spider has found its way to Santa Barbara, but now (more) people will be freaking out at the sight of common Argiope species.
