An open note to NBC and their Olympic coverage: please stop showing me that waste of space VP and his lil' failed YouTuber and failed boxer buddy. Neither of them matter.

I specifically came to Blue sky today to say this exact thing. For folks who insist on dead naming people, they were sure quick to "transition" from Gulf of Mexico.

Chuck, coming from someone who has voted for you continuously, DO SOMETHING. That's the whole reason you are there.

Will you? Because it looks to the general public like Dems are rolling over and not putting up any type of fight. And we are asking you to fight.

I'm worried about the future of our democracy, but sure, go off about tomato prices and show us how out of touch with your base you really are.

It's a great time to pick up The Birchbark House as it recently got republished with a beautiful new cover for it's 25th anniversary! πŸŽ‰

Where are the "parents rights" people now? They care so much about exerting their "parent rights" with reading materials but are okay not having rights over their kids healthcare?

One of the best things you can do right now is read books. Buy them. Borrow them from the library. Gift them.

Read history. Read fiction. Read science writing. Read anything that shows you the world is bigger than what fascists say it is.

Read to remember why your resistance matters. πŸ“šπŸ’™

I'm once again on my system's "Best Books" committee for nonfiction because I LOVE to read it! The Sibert Awards are my favorite part of the #YMAs πŸ“šβ€οΈ

The littlest things can make a day better. The folks at my favorite #DunkinDonuts put this note on my cup today and EVERY time I reached for it, I smiled. (Forgot to snap the pic when it was full of iced coffee. Yes, iced coffee year round!)

One thing before tomorrow:

Use your local libraries.

Get your card.

Borrow books, manga, films, audios, ebooks.

Recommend titles for purchase (usually online).

Attend promoted activities.

Fill out those "How are we doing?" questionnaires.

Tell your kids that libraries are good.

They are.

I deactivated my Tiktok account. If they are thanking the asshole who originally wanted to ban the app for now "saving" it, I don't want to be around to see how else they can be influenced.

Anyone looking to ban a book from a school should have to prove they read it by presenting a book report to the school committee.

You've sold me everyone with your rave reviews! I've added @gailsimone.bsky.social's Red Sonia audiobook to my TBR tag in Libby.

I want to remind everyone that your local library is both physical AND digital.

You hate streaming everything because the price is ridiculous? Library.

You hate ads because they're every 3 mins or less? Library.

You want to reduce your digital footprint? Library.

You want sourced info? Library.

I think you may have been one of the reasons I ever even knew this title existed and I love it and have talked up the manga to everyone I know who reads manga. Thank you for that!

So much library funding is from the state and local level, so that's where your attention needs to be.

Honestly, I feel we need to use their arguments against them. "I want this book removed because children shouldn't read it" okay but parents rights, right? You don't get to decide what other people's children read, then? But I have no idea yet how to do this. And I am a librarian.
