Mayor Quinton Lucas announced today that the Kansas City Council has approved a 12-month contract with the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) to continue essential bus service operations throughout the metropolitan area.
I didn't I was virtually attending a UG meeting, but let's all go in person to show support for public transit on the 15th
π¨Let's all show up and support public transportation at the KCATA special meeting to discuss signing the Kansas City, Missouri contract. If the contract isn't signed by that day, the service across the city could cease to exist. π¨
The desperation for the City of Kansas City, Missouri and the KCATA is growing to a roar as if a contract isn't signed by the 15th, all service will stop in the city. THIS IS A BIG DEAL, THIS IS NOT NORMAL, PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IS NOT A BUSINESS, IT IS A PUBLIC SERVICE

Kansas City, Kansas is losing its only full service grocery store downtown. What caused it to go under? The big beautiful bill, and the SNAP cuts following the orders. Locals will have to travel farther and farther for fresh produce or their favorite ingredients.

Development costs are rising, but not paying your workers fairly is not a cost savings that is acceptable in Kansas City. This contractor is barred for 2 years for this unscrupulous act.

Join the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas as they host a ground breaking ceremony for the 7th Street Transit Corridor Project - The KC Metro Urbanists celebrate urbanist wins like this to showcase the progress and desire for better streets across the region
Housing is a necessary part of being human. The American idea to turn housing into a financial commodity has had a disastrous effect on those facing homelessness and housing insecurity. High housing prices mean more tax dollars for existing homeowners.

KC Metro Urbanists Meeting on Monday, August 18th, 2025 at the Cedar Roe Library in Roeland Park, KS. We are looking for community input on the projects, ideas, and local initiatives to support that align with our pillars.

KCMO and the KCATA have until August 15th for a new contract or the buses will stop running August 15th. This is not hyperbole, this is a threat to public transit in Kansas City. Kansas City, Missouri is the biggest contract the KCATA has.
