My only problem with Android is that it is an operating system designed to show you ads and track you. It is built by an ad tech company intended to turn your phone into a crowdsourced billboard.
Apple is slithering in that direction too, but nothing as overt and obvious as what Google does.
I wrote some words for this.weekinsecurity.com about how social media giants (aka: ad tech companies!) track you around the web, even if you don't have an account or use their apps. Follows from a brilliant column in the BBC about TikTok's use of website "pixels" to track people's browsing activity.
Quite happy to see Facebook reels showing guitarists playing classics from progressive rock titans Rush. Limelight, Closer to the Heart, and Mission seem to the top picks.
