An obscene amount of people world visit to Aether because they're told the queues are faster and thus the queues legitimately become faster. You can still usually get current content pretty easily, but especially with the 24-man Tank queue debuff it's at least worth a shot if something don't pop.

Social media makes responding too fast. Back in the day you had to write and mail a whole letter to respond to something like that.
But yeah people do NOT hold back. Being in spaces where you have to defend the things you like really puts people on edge and it boils over sometimes.
Tone is a rough one online. I think if you'd have said "That's a common misconception" instead of "That's reductive" it would have hit different. But communication in all forms is imperfect, so misunderstandings are bound to happen.

I think curiosity got mistaken as an argument in this case. I think her understanding was flawed, but she was genuinely asking, not trying to pick a fight. In person, someone you trust calling something reductive is one thing but a 2026 Internet stranger opening up with that is a different vibe.
Your response begun by calling her question reductive and then treated her question as hostile. I do not blame her for disengaging.
Okay I looked through her responses and she's now happily learning about the Savannah Bananas and other faked versions of sports. She was genuinely curious why wrestling was the only one she'd heard of. This seems to have been in good faith. Folks may have gotten a little defensive on this one.
