Which major festival did Mariah headline? I'm just wondering. And I did Google it but the only notable festival that came up was Rock in Rio.

Man you really had me fooled at first, until I saw the "non" part lol. Now I long for all of Weird Al's post 80s stuff to be re-issued on vinyl! And also I can't believe it's been 3 decades since it came out...I bought it a few days after it was released. Crank up that Amish Paradise
I'm at the point where nothing surprises me anymore π€£
Alright, continuing on with my Rock Hall thoughts we have #11, Oasis. Their first two albums are classic, no doubt. Then we have the Gallagher brothers, who have had headlines over their rivalry for a long time. They will likely not show when their induction happens, either way 3x may be a charm
Aw man, that's a tough one. Personally I don't want to see it happen, especially her getting in before, say, Shania Twain and some notable female country legends. This is not to say Taylor's country career wasn't influential or impacting. Anyway, we shall see...
I was so not aware that Weird Al was in a Diet Coke commercial (with Kim Carnes) in 1984. Weird. www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHL2...
This is actually one of my favorite times of the year. It's always a downer when it starts getting dark at 4pm and completely by 5:30. It's the first leg of spring! (Oh, and I will never not share this meme when it pops up!)
all her success on the Billboard charts, she's mostly remembered for that "All I Want..." song nowadays. I will admit that I'm not sure why she is hated in the industry or if people just don't want her in. (A lot of Rock Hall watchers have speculated that) She needs to get in some way...
Nominee #10: Mariah Carey. Chart stats usually don't justify an artist's importance as far as the Rock Hall, but she's had a very impressive run compared to most. 19 #1 hits, and she recently bested her own record when her Xmas song spent its 20th week atop the Hot 100. But despite of....
On a global scale, yes they are big. I think both Idol and INXS have made great impact but I do agree it will be one of them getting in this year
What's very interesting is one of the songs that inspired Hutchence was "Spill the Wine" by War and they are having a hard time getting in as well
Nominee #9: is Melissa Etheridge. Very deserving, and she may get in this year or the next time she appears on a ballot. I will admit that I don't care for her music....but my personal taste doesn't matter.
Nominee #8: INXS has always been one of my all-time favorites, but it's always challenging to know when they'll ever get in the Hall. The land down under hasn't really gotten much representation in the Rock Hall, and let's all hope that changes.
Nominees #6 & #7: Jeff Buckley and Lauryn Hill. Usually I think those who have released only one album is undeserving, but that may be the new norm someday. (I still think the Pistols are overrated!) Anyway, both of those two will eventually get in. Maybe Jeff this time around, who knows.
Every year after the Rock Hall nominees are announced, it's always fun to hear my peers' thoughts...and Mr. Eddie "I Know Rock" Trunk's. It's always a great laughable listen, worth 30 min of your time - hearing him go crazy www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kp0h...
Corgan said he βsaw the gravity shiftβ as rap took over and standards changed overnight. Today, he points to the irony: rock sells massive tickets worldwide, yet barely appears in mainstream media. For him, the industry βpurposely dialed down the ability of rock stars to have a voice.β
Agree or disagree? Billy Corgan said on his podcast rock didnβt just fade, it was pushed out of mainstream culture. Speaking with Conrad Flynn on The Magnificent Others Podcast, he recalled a lateββ90s shift where MTV βsuddenly decided rock was outβ even though the genre was still huge. (more..)
Nominees #4 & #5: Billy Idol & Sade. Both have returned to the ballot for the 2nd time. Both are deserving. (Sade the band is being inducted, not just the lead singer) Both have several hits that never get old. But it's an uphill battle for both (imo) as there are a lot of new challengers here.
If it wasn't for Dirty Dancing, I would have not heard this classic
Of the 17 Rock Hall nominees, I've seen six live (most of them at festivals). Billy Idol, INXS (post-Hutchence), Wu-Tang, Lauryn Hill, Black Crowes and Iron Maiden.
How many have you seen in concert?
Nominee #3: Joy Division/New Order - it's clear that the NomCom wants them in before the Smiths, as far as new wave/80s alt genre. 3x nominated. I'd sure to hate see them in a non-performer category. Get them in soon! Songs that don't get old: "Love Will Tear Us Apart"/"Bizarre Love Triangle"
Yeah I do recognize Shakira's global impact, but I agree that Gloria Estefan or Selena should have been on the ballot.
They had all this time to put Neil in the Rock Hall (doesn't matter what category), but he knew he was a legend. RIP thanks for the music
Yeah last night I heard "Laughter in the Rain" (one of my favorites) on Yacht Rock Radio
Well yeah, I remember at one time it actually tasted good...
Everytime I think of NE it's always that "Candy Girl" song that comes to mind. Song that never gets old: "Can You Stand the Rain"
Next nominee: New Edition. This is the ultimate boy band that launched the careers of literally all of its members. May or may not get in soon but it'll happen. It helps that they are currently touring with Boyz II Men (which was named after one of their songs!) and Toni Braxton......
I saw them 20 yrs back opening for Tom Petty and they connected well with the audience. I'll have to check out the bio!
but the one song that never gets old for me is "Remedy." They've had several #1s on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, then again so did Collective Soul. They'll get in some way, probably not this year.
So today I'll start with the Black Crowes. Nominated for the first time last year. Truthfully I'm surprised they got nom'd before the Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer and AIC. But they are a true rock and roll band with blues & southern mixed in. Their only mainstream hit is "Hard to Handle"....
