'Tir y Cewri - Land of the Giants' My favourite photo this week taken on Wednesday at Dunraven Bay, Southerndown. It was such a perfect day with real warmth. The coast here is spectacular, a place where giants could dwell happily.

'Awyr Las - A Blue Sky' How to lovely to enjoy a blue sky and a grand view into the distance from the old stack at Cwmbyrgwm, The British, Abersychan. The colours were rich and with such contrast Saturday morning.
'Pwll yr hen efail - The old forge pond' View at the site of the old forge pond at Garnddyrys, Blaenavon today and on the 7th February. Amazing how quickly this fills after heavy rain, but thankfully a lovely day today.
'Hanes Anghofiedig ... Wedi'i Gofio Eto - Forgotten History ... Remembered Again' A walk from Goldcliff to Redwick, Newport - remembering 'The Great Flood' - Diolch yn fawr iawn Nation Cymru a Jon Gower nation.cymru/feature/teit...
'Y Dirwedd Hon - This Landscape' How good to be able to get out and about without the rain today and even a patch of blue sky to boot. Unsurprisingly, the rectangular balance pond at Pwlldu, Blaenavon, which is dry for most of the year, is in full water just now.
'Lle cafodd eogiaid eu dal - Where salmon were caught' Wooden stakes all in a row at Goldcliff, Newport which were once used to secure baskets called 'puchers' in place that were in turn used to catch salmon. It was lovely to feel the Sun and see a blue sky on Friday morning!
'Yr Hen Gronfa Ddลตr - The Old Reservoir' The site of the old reservoir which was created for 'The British Ironworks', at Abersychan/ Talywain, partially in water this week due to the heavy rain.
'Bore Sul - Sunday Morning' A grey, drizzly morning in Blaenavon, but the lights shining warm and bright through the windows of St. Peter's Church created a scene of tranquility.
'Diwedd y dydd - End of the day' A symphony of blue and grey at the end of the day at Cwmbyrgwm, The British near Abersychan. Calm and beautiful at this old industrial pond, but still very cold.
'Blwyddyn Newydd Dda - Happy New Year' Rainbow over The British, Abersychan this morning. It didn't last long, in fact it was gone in the blink of an eye ... but it was lovely to see at the beginning to the New Year.
'Bore Nadolig - Christmas Morning' Christmas morning at The British, Abersychan. How lovely this old industrial site looks, even in the winter. Nadolig Llawen i bawb / Happy Christmas to all.
'Llwybr y Chwarel - Quarry Path' To be honest I wasn't expecting much in the way of light yesterday, but the afternoon turned out lovely at the Lasgarn Woodland. In the days of the industrial revolution when the woodland was a limestone quarry I believe the quarry workers would have used this path.
'Bore - Morning' The day begins along the old railway line just beyond Garndiffaith Viaduct this morning. This bend in the line offers a splendid view down the valley and when you catch the sun on the rise it is just perfect.
'Llewyrch y Gaeaf - Winter Glow' How nice to be able to get out and enjoy the glow that winter sun brings today. The richness of the warm reds and such delicate shades of blue at the Lasgarn Woodland were just beautiful.
'Cwmwl isel dros y Blorens - Low cloud over the Blorenge' My favourite photo of the week and quite accidental really. I just got out the car at the Castle car park in Abergavenny and it was just there, with Blorens looking like a brooding dragon's lair!
'Diwedd Tachwedd - End of November' What a lovely morning for a wander at The Lasgarn Woodland, Abersychan - the last day of November and it did not disappoint. Every month, every season has its own, unique beauty and just now the views to the hills beyond are just magical.
'Hanes Cudd - Hidden History' Late afternoon at the Lasgarn Woodland, Abersychan yesterday. This old embankment for the horse drawn tramroad built to haul limestone from the quarries to the local ironworks is not so hidden now that the leaves have had their autumn fall.
'Cyffyrddiad o las - A touch of blue' Just a touch of blue in the sky looking towards Mynydd Pen-y-fรขl - The Sugar Loaf from Pwlldu, near Blaenafon this afternoon. Hopefully a sign that we have better weather on the way.
'Awyr Dรขn uwchben yr Hen Dลท Injan - Fire Sky over the Old Engine House' An industrial glow in the sky above the old engine house at The British, Abersychan yesterday as the sun faded - a lovely moment to look at this relic of the past, evocative and beautiful.
'Rhyfeddod natur - The wonder of nature' Familiar places can sometimes take you by surprise. This lovely morning view taken along the old railway line just up from Garndiffaith Viaduct stopped me in my tracks today. It reminded me so much of a stained glass window, the play of light was so beautiful
'Dail Aur - Leaves of Gold' One more from The Lasgarn Woodland, Abersychan. Golden leaves soon to fall, but priceless in the scheme of things. Some of the most beautiful things that we see are fleeting moments really.
'Hydref - Autumn' Spectacular colours of Autumn at The Lasgarn Woodland, Abersychan this morning.
'Ar hyd y llinell heddiw - Along the line today' Alond the old railway line just up from Garndiffaith Viaduct today. How well the mustard yellow leaves stand out, even on a dull, grey in Autumn. Beautiful.
'Mor syth รข hen Ffordd Rufeinig - As straight as an old Roman Road' The old railway line just beyond Garndiffiath Viaduct, taken earlier in the week' This straight stretch often reminds me of a Roman road. Tranquil now, but it was used until 1980 for the transport of coal.
'Fel Nodiadau Aur Bach - Like Little Golden Notes' Autumn leaves, like little golden notes clinging to their branches at The Lasgarn Woodland, Abersychan. An intriguing path, which winds its way through old limestone quarry workings and quite possibly the track bed of an old tramroad.
'Yr Hen Dลท Injan - The Old Engine House' My favourite photo of the week comes from The British, Abersychan. I photograph this old engine house frequently. Something about the light that fits with the age of this building, evocative of another age.
Diolch yn fawr iawn @nation.cymru and Jon Gower for this lovely opportunity to share a little about the rugged, beautiful and fascinating Garnddyrys landscape, Blaenafon

'Diwedd mis Medi - End of September' What a lovely September day and just beautiful along the old tramroad that winds its way through the heart of The Lasgarn Woodland in Abersychan. It never ceases to amaze me that this path was an industrial route created for the transport of limestone.
'Gwynt, Glaw a Haul - Wind, Rain and Sun' Well the day had it all today and when the sun broke through the clouds at Garnddyrys, just below The Keeper's Pond, Blaenavon this afternoon it was just glorious. Enjoying the moment in between the wind and rain. Have a lovely weekend all.
'Y dirwedd hon - This landscape' One of the most intriguing views to be found locally at Garnddyrys, just below the Keeper's Pond, Blaenavon. Poised like a sphinx, but surprisingly formed from industrial waste left when the old iron forge was dismantled. Dramatic this afternoon.
