The lineup for the 2026 Women's Champions Classic has been set.
UConn will take on Maryland, and Iowa State will play Michigan at Barclays Center Dec. 5, 2026.
Gotham FC GM Yael Averbuch West penned a letter to fans ahead of Saturday’s season opener:
WNBA labor talks intensify, with today being the target date the league told players CBA terms had to be agreed to or else it could impact the season.

I know, they do that every year. But if you’re a sicko like me, you prefer watching the events live lol
Unrivaled started early so it was competing with NFL, CFP and other events, which could be part of the reason for the decline. I’m not sure exactly for the Olympics. unrivaled is in the evening, and usually the Olympics live events were during the day, though NBC obviously re-airs stuff.
Unrivaled’s overall viewership ratings this season were down from the previous year.
- Finals was most-watched game this szn, averaging 314K viewers and peaking at 335K (down 14% from ‘25)
- Playoffs averaged 258K (down 9%)
- Viewership grew 35% after Philly tour stop
Sarah Fillier scored on the empty net in the final minute, her second goal of the game after a 14-game drought.
The Sirens beat Ottawa 6-2, snapping their five-game losing streak. New York leaps the Charge for fourth in the PWHL standings.
Allyson Simpson just scored a power-play goal on Phillips, her first of the season.
Sirens up 5-2.
Taylor Girard scores her second goal of the day.
Sirens up 4-2 with 9:15 left in the third
8,264 fans at today’s Sirens games, according to the broadcast. New record for a PWHL game at Prudential Center.
New York going on back-to-back penalty kills.
Sirens, who lead the league in penalty minutes, gotta be more disciplined.
Been a very chippy second period
Ottawa goaltender Gwyneth Philips is donating $3 for every save she makes against the Sirens today to Allyson Simpson's Shake On campaign.
Philips is up to $36 after the first period.
Wrote about Simpson's Shake On movement earlier this year:

Heck of a start for the Sirens, who lead Ottawa 3-1 after the first period.
New York is playing in front of a record crowd of 7,000+ at Prudential Center.

The WNBPA sent a counterproposal to the WNBA last night, source says.
Angel Reese said she knows negotiations aren't easy, especially as a businesswoman who's in the room where contracts are negotiated.
"I'm going to continue to be a voice & do whatever I can as a young voice that knows that I do have a platform. I think it is very important RN."
Caitlin Clark just shared a fantastic anecdote of when she was on the U16 team in Colorado Spring and went into a room where the jerseys from her idols were hanging up.
"I remember as a kid, my eyes were so wide. I thought that was the coolest thing in the world."
Clark con't: "... to get back not only to a point where I feel like I'm myself but I feel like I'm even better than where I was at beginning of last season."
Clark con't: "I'm sure after the first minute of running around on the court, I'll be just fine. But more than anything, just really excited. I know how much work and how much time I put in to make sure my body's as healthy as it can be and to get back...
Caitlin Clark on playing her first game in 8 months: "It'll probably take a me a second to knock a little bit of the rust off. I'll probably be a little bit nervous, which I usually don't get nervous but that probably comes from I haven't really played basketball in a while...
Breanna Stewart backs WNBPA director Terri Jackson after letter leak nypost.com/2026/03/06/s...
Chelsea Gray on state of the WNBPA as CBA talks continue: “We’re still in this fight to get what we deserve…. Everybody wants the common goal to be paid, to be treated, to be valued as we should.”
Breanna Stewart said she’s going to Turkey early next month for two weeks. The Final Six is in Spain April 16-19.
The next week will be on the chiller side and then she’ll ramp up to play again.

Breanna Stewart is a selfless leader, a winner and a co-founder of a staunchly pro-player league.
Why would anyone think those innate traits of hers wouldn’t apply to her approach to the state of WNBA CBA talks?

The Sirens suffer their fifth straight loss, falling to the Fleet 1-0.
