"The secret fear of the morally depraved is that virtue is actually common, and that they’re the ones who are alone."
A decade of trans advocacy has taught me people believe lies because they want to, not because they don't know they are lies. They believe trans people will regret our transition because they want us to regret our transition. They believe we are a "social contagion" because that is how they see us
A year and a half ago or so, I read that an entire stadium in Tacoma had booed a trans runner. I wanted to know more. She was 16, and she had stood on a podium in one of the country’s most liberal states and listened to 10,000 people boo her. What I learned surprised me:

Weird how The Free Press was able to publish all of these without comment from the Washigton University Transgender Center at St. Louis Children's Hospital.
"Get the principals on camera" is such a telling phrase here, because it tells us that for Weiss there's no world in which the victims of these horrific actions can actually be seen as the subjects of the story: They're background noise, and the people who matter are the ones sending them.
The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.
And trans lives are grounded in reality.
We see y'all. No matter what.

My two cents: Being part of a large family a huge impact on my ability as a communicator! It made me more talkative and social, and as a result those skills are more ‘practiced’.
Any given trans person (particularly one in any role of power or prestige) is at risk of being forcibly cast as the villain in an algorithmic right-wing fairy tale by some grifter who's greatest dream in life is to be a pitchman for crypto schemes and off-brand fertility supplements
cis people don't want it to be about banning trans people because what if all that other stuff they ignored was about banning trans people too and that can't be because they're objectively the best and most moral and never make mistakes really trans people just make everything about trans stuff and-
ah, perhaps instead of pumping millions into endless factional infighting Dem donors could invest in making local Dem organizations genuine civic spaces that can reach people during and between elections
This is a very good reason.
I have been saying this line to everyone I care about since I heard it.
Also: Y’all look so lovely.
You can simply choose not to participate in the public shaming of a trans woman in a world that so often gives us zero grace no matter what we do or say.
If Zohran Mamdani wins it'll be because he got people excited through a bold policy platform and sheer charisma but if Andrew Cuomo wins it'll pretty clearly be because he and the entire establishment resorted to some of the nastiest most vile smears they could think of
The Democratic Party is in open warfare against its own relevance and yet every day we're fed a stream of columns and podcasts about how it's really the fault of trans people and immigrants
The thumbnails for three videos on YouTube shorts. The first is titled Trans Stories: ACPeds and shows a scene from Minecraft and the word discrimination. The second is titled Trans Stories: Moms for Liberty and shows a scene from Minecraft. The third is titled Trans Stories: Abigail Shrier and has the book cover for Shrier's irreversible damage over a scene from Minecraft.

This was SB99 from 2023. I spoke against this bill on 3 different occasions on the house floor, including the "blood on your hands" speech.
I am glad this bill has been permanently defeated. And that Montana's constitution continues to protect trans people from government overreach and animus.
If you try to beat conservatives only by debating them on policy, it frames the nature of the fight as a policy disagreement, hiding the real problem, which is that—behind the endless parade of bullshit they use to obscure this fact—they are cruel bullies w/strange hang-ups and violent intentions.
Kaleidoscope Youth Center, the largest and oldest organization dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ youth in Ohio, will receive a $100,000 grant from the city after an ordinance sponsored by Councilmember Melissa Green passed unanimously May 12.

For @msnbc.com, I went long with my criticisms of the HHS report on youth gender care released last week. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...
🧵
For a couple years, I have proudly served on the advisory board for the National Organization for Victim Advocacy -- the oldest org of its kind in the country. During my time, I've supported a game changing pilot program: the training and deployment of youth victim advocates to college campuses.
This lifesaving work was made possible through a grant from the Department of Justice. Last week, we were informed that the funding would be terminated immediately, with Pam Bondi's office writing that this support for survivors of assault and crisis “no longer effectuates agency priorities.”
“Those same do-nothing Democrats want to blame our losses on our defense of Black people, of trans kids, of immigrants—instead of their own lack of guts and gumption,” JB Pritzker said to loud applause.

1/ BREAKING: So - it turns out deeply-religious Lord Hodge, the Judge in yesterday’s UK Supreme Court Case that destroyed trans rights, headed a ‘Commission On Same-Sex Relationships’ for the Church of Scotland published in 2011.
Jesse did not ‘question an aspect of the progressive message.’ He dedicated his *entire career* to popularizing the idea that progressives are unhinged, anti-science freaks who are foisting permanent surgeries on kids without assessment.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio’s latest budget proposal would define gender as two sexes, require libraries to limit access to LGBTQ+ books, and prohibit state agencies from flying certain flags.
