I don’t think unconditional surrender is imminent.

Good to see the brilliant humanity of @ecetemelkuran.bsky.social last night in Bath. In her new book Nation of Strangers she shows us the problems we face and how we might live together better. ‘Refugees are the defeated of the world but the pioneers of history’. Lessons we all need to learn.
BREAKING: Donald Trump has reportedly been buying the people in his inner circle, new shoes, and people are “afraid not to wear them.” So, finally after Marco Rubio worked up the courage to tell Trump that the $145 Florsheim shoes, didn't fit - the President immediately bought them all new shoes.

An administration of misfits who don't fit into their shoes.

It gets better. Here's Vance and Rubio in the Oval Office...
Losing touch with reality indicates having been in touch with reality at some point to begin with.
You have a cabinet incapable of giving good advice because they are unqualified and ignorant
Democratic Congress Plan A and Band C: Win the midterms. Do some investigations. Maybe impeach a secretary.
Republican Congress Plan A and B and C: Win the midterms. Become unstoppable. Full fascism.
He believes money is there because he has money to do what he wants. 🤬😡
“Appears increasingly to have lost touch with reality” is this a joke? More under-reaction speak from centrist democrats.
Hey Senator Ossoff, the problem is thinking that group of FOTUS trump administration sycophants called a Cabinet has anything intelligent, useful or productive to advise. They were selected for their sucking up on camera skills, not because they know anything. No wonder we are in a mess.

If/when a deMAGAfication of US ever occurs it must begin with the Roberts Court without which none of this would be possible
They didn't make a mistake at all. They set out to achieve a set of policy goals and have been wildly successful.
Do you actually think they care about opinion polls? They are there for one reason - institute their agenda. There's no way the conservatives care at all what the public thinks. They captured the institution, completely. The other half is optics, which is meaningless in the real world.
::whispers:: Because it’s indefensible. ::whispers::
If the rulings were fair and Constitutional, they’d lead with that.

That's part and parcel of their weakness here. Only a specialized audience reads their opinions, but a very general audience lives through the repercussions: citizens united, overturning roe v wade, kavenaugh stops, etc with no real effort made to explain or justify why.
Weird how repeatedly allowing corporations to poison people and the environment doesn’t fill the streets with demonstrations of gratitude. John Roberts led SCOTUS has been so consistently anti-human, anti-democracy and pro-wealthy over common people that they’ll never earn broad support.

I think this is downstream of the power thing. They fundamentally believe people learn to accept whatever is imposed on them, rather than pushing bottom up for the changes they want to see in the law.
I mean: I think a big part of it was also that the Warren Court jurisprudence was founded in a popular&historical understanding of the Constitution as a document establishing democratic governance&protecting a free society; concepts the Roberts Court is openly hostile to.
These things meet in the middle because it's a lot easier to sell something that strikes most people as right. The Warren Court had pushback, but it wasn't as far out of the mainstream as the current Court is.
The Warren Court was trying to do what was right. End segregation, end Jim Crow, provide criminal defendants with no means with basic due process, allow women to have reproductive rights.
The Roberts Court is consistently trying to do what is wrong. The Court doesn't just have a messaging problem.
Exactly. If anger and disapproval of the majority counted for anything, trump and John Roberts led SCOTUS would’ve burnt to a cinder years ago.

Conservative led SCOTUS is openly pro-corporations and oligarchs. Being fair, impartial or weighing the needs of the many over the wants of the few doesn’t come into play over and over again in rulings. Democrats insist on refusing to work on fixing the situation, so we seem stuck.
