The thought of doing commissions makes me nervous just because Idk how to price my work and I get anxiety due to the weight of expectations on my shoulders. I had considered starting small like stickers or something, but Idk where to sell em. I'm seriously at a loss right now.

Ngl, my career in animation has not been looking good. Hasn't over the past 4 years and I seriously need a side hustle of some kind just to get by. The thought of selling my art as merch hadn't slipped my mind, but I lack experience. I suck at marketing myself and I really don't know where to start.

I get that people are uncomfortable with the fan service and thats 100% fair lol But the story itself really spoke to me on a deeper level, I just wish people would look past whats on the surface 😆

I definitely recommend reading the manga rather than watch the anime, the manga is better paced and provides more context for certain chapters and events that the anime had cut out.

The series doesn't just use cooking as a backdrop for shonen action, but as a method of artistry and how different artists view their skillsets and their own worth as an artist.

He meets chefs who come from the same background as him with rivaling talent, chefs with low self-worth, chefs who dabbles in the new, jaded veterans who have stagnated and so on.

But when his dad enrolled him into Tōtsuki Academy, the most prestigious cooking school in Japan, he learns he was a big fish in a small pond thrown into a vast ocean of talent.

The entire series showcases various chefs, young and old, new chefs and old veterans, and how their culinary journey has affected them. Soma is the best chef in his neighborhood in his generation, who strives to beat his dad in cooking and prepares to take over his family restaurant.

Getting past the fan service, I feel that every artist should read Food Wars because, on a deeper level, the series isn't just about cooking, its about the drive to create, the reason why one makes art, and the dangerous pitfalls of burnout and replication without meaning or consent.
