We invite them in for a smaller group session for presentations. We ring home for all events if they've not signed up for things so we can establish if the language barrier was the issue. Tracking of engagement to help them feel a part of the school. #NewToSLTChat #Edusky
So parents were invited to join and/or invite people they knew in a variety of industries in the local area. We have our student leadership team on board as well. We run it on site to get everyone to collaborate on issues/ideas that may have come from student council, external reviews, parents etc
We started a community forum to get the views of the whole spectrum of our area. We also run termly information evenings where parents come in to hear presentations on updates. I also send weekly emails just to year 11 parents due to the amount of info needed for exams etc. #NewToSLTChat
I hope you find the right school for you. It can take time but it is so worth it when you do!

I taught simultaneous equations to a weak ish year 10 class today. Used algebra tiles to explain it. LSA calls out - "I've never seen it taught like that and now I finally understand it." Great feeling - let's hope year 10 can remember it next week!
Does anyone on here effectively use mini whiteboards in English and would be happy to share what you do?

My job title is AHT for standards, assessment and outcomes and a lot of what I do is data based. However, I do a lot of work with subjects on their curriculum and what their assessments tell them, not what it tells me if that makes sense?!
