Even if some of his creative decisions are a bit weird, X-Men: The End undoubtedly benefits from the fact that Claremont just has complete free reign and doesn’t need to worry about maintaining the status quo of a monthly ongoing.

Kitty Pryde running for mayor is one of my favourite plot points from The End and it’s something that I wish could end up being brought over into the mainline books because I think there would be a lot of potential for Kitty to run for office in an ongoing book.

The full context of it is depressing but I like that the mutant rights group is called “Refusenix” because it references the term for Jews who were refused the right to emigrate from the Soviet Union to escape the persecution they faced under communist rule.
