Very interesting flow laminations visible in the long side opposite the original view. They are very regular, possibly representing individual large ladle pours that each would be more manageable for one man. It is a lot of metal to pour at once so probably a team working with multiple ladles.

Interesting, that would make casual theft a bit easier or could imply they were being used locally.

I had assumed that the ingot on the left of your photo had been cut in two and placed back together, howvere they appear like that in each photo so is there actually a cut?

Can you share any information about how the 3 peices were found relative to each other? Seeing that cut reminds me of when I used to make alloys containing lead, I used to cut through the 25kg ingots using a bolster and hammer, I got quite good at working out where to make the cut.

sounds a bit like flammable inflammable, desilvering was quite long winded process back then so the degree of success will vary as will the quantity of silver in galena.

It's my understanding that ex-arg refers to lead where the silver content has been extracted.

Lost wax caster here, I assume the terminal is a single complete casting? I can't see that the core would need any support or lugs to keep it in position. I think you are correct that this is a repair of a weak object.
