I first did a call for birthday media a few years ago. I initially envisioned this as a short video, but the submissions were some of the most beautiful, touching, funny, and human artifacts I had ever seen, and I knew it had to be something more to do this justice.

For years, I have been working on a documentary project about the history of children's birthdays, and I am again putting out a call to anyone willing to share photos and videos from their childhood birthday for us to possibly use in the film. More details below!
I attended one of the preview screenings, and having watched it again on YouTube (on my TV), it's surreal seeing footage I've only seen in compressed, poor quality in high definition. I hope Disney and other companies with archives think of more ways to get this historic media out there like this.
The new Disneyland Handcrafted documentary might be my favorite thing that Disney (or any other big studio) has done with their archival material. Leslie Iwerks used a ton of restraint and the film is really well constructed. I hope they release it on physical media.
