Bet that's not constant prices. If it was, electricity has probably become cheaper
Works absolutely fine in Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands...
Actually showing up and saying why something needs to be done works. It's about time government tried it.
Then you need to watch this.
I can't believe that inflation forecasts have much skill beyond three years, nor any beyond five. Or is it really a reflection of participants' expectations?
I think the Great Grid Upgrade, NeuLink, LionLink will take that effect away for the most part
Tonight Matthew I'm going to add 150 miles of driving range to my electric car for ยฃ3.79. Try that with your mild hybrid.
How? Because wind power.
Imagine thinking that drilling the North Sea for oil and gas that isn't there is the solution for being energy-dependent on oil from Gulf autocracies.
Glad to hear it!
I don't think that's quite right. Skips are now often for system stability, usually because of the location where energy is required
Won't be a small number though, will be 20+ GW

Someone's saying it, but why not front benchers?
Honestly I think it just never crosses their minds that there is a cleaner, cheaper way.
I'm not sure that was an aim, but it's certainly a (good) thing
Even an unemployment rate of 5.3% is tiny in historical terms, of course, and below the long-term average.
I do wish the government would stop being scared of its own shadow and instead press ahead with things that are objectively right to do (which does NOT include cutting benefits!)
Not one mention of EVs.
Not one mention of solar power.
Not one mention of wind power.
Not one mention of heat pumps.
If we do not want to live at the mercy of Saudi oil or US gas, those are the technologies, available so today, that solves the problem.
Yet no-one is talking about it!

Where is MISO?
ยฃ35k sounds steep. I would suggest looking for a Heat Geek-qualified installer and get a survey www.heatgeek.com/find-a-heat-...
A heat pump can heat anything; no building is unsuitable.
It's intended to be cheaper than paying for emissions trading scheme allowances. If it isn't, the emitters have CfDs to make sure it is. A carbon border adjustment mechanism makes sure products from abroad pay at least the same
Genuine question: what's preventing you from getting a heat pump?
The 1980s North Sea oil windfall went on tax cuts and unemployment benefit instead of being invested by a sovereign wealth fund โ a fact Reform et al never mention.
If you can show how the the link between gas prices and electricity *can* be broken do let us know, because no-one else knows how it is possible
Probably a good time to get an electric vehicle then!
On a standard variable tariff, the cost of driving an EV one mile is less than half that of a petrol car's.

Still great news that the capture and storage project is going ahead
I get the impression that some people will object to anything if a petition shows up in their timelines.
How could you object to capturing and storing COโ under the seabed instead of putting it in the atmosphere?!
The rates on Flux look sustainable, but the savings using a battery with Flux versus SVT are tiny, ยฃ200-300 per year.
In theory you can export with Flux and make money on arbitrage, but I challenge anyone to show me a system that can optimise battery, PV, and ASHP for that reliably/successfully.
Well we'll see what MHHS brings but I'm not expecting all that much. Unlike somewhere like California, the timing of particularly cheap electricity isn't regular.
I wouldn't assume IOG will be available forever, at least with such a price delta. Octopus must lose money on it.
