...and the data extraction, etc. And yeah, I think at best most doctoral students feel that they are part of a team. It probably helps that they are paid to train and begin work as researchers rather than them paying tuition?

This has been a thing in Sweden for several years. I'd say at least half of the systematic/scoping reviews I performed searches for while working here have been part of a doctoral project. Most often been supervisors as coauthors who helped with the screening.
