My terrific grad student @imartinezechague.bsky.social just published a fascinating paper in @sfjournal.bsky.social on how equality itself requires work in households - work which often falls to women. Itβs worth a read!

Whatever political game theyβre playing is bound to have a negative effect on the university, not to mention peopleβs lives. Iβm furious on behalf of my friends & former colleagues at UNC who are navigating this situation w/ little info on when it will be rectified.
Many of these faculty have worked at UNC for years and all have passed tenure reviews at the dept, College, and Provost levels. The BoT is delaying their clearly deserved promotions (or hires) and does not plan to meet until after the next fiscal year starts.
This is shameful. The UNC Board of Trustees fails to vote on all tenure cases in Arts & Sciences, holding faculty in limbo without any explanation or timeline. This affects both assistant profs up for tenure and new tenured hires.
