Officials are considering both their proposal and another idea from parents to zone children south toward Taylorsville Road instead, but either way, they want to put something in place soon to give parents time to prepare for whatever is approved.
Some parents also claim district leaders haven't communicated as well as they should have been around the plan and that development in the area will require new boundary zones down the line even if this new proposal is implemented.
Under the new proposal, children closer to the Snyder would be zoned to go to Crosby instead. This has angered several parents, some who said they specifically moved to the East End to have their children attend Echo Trail.

The plan is a result of low enrollment at both schools, officials said, but Young would remain a magnet school if the combination comes to pass. The merger would also allow Hudson Middle School to split into two buildings as it waits for its permanent campus to be completed.
