Hell yeah.
Several books on Fichte, climate, and the concept of prehistory, with a beer.
Cooking up something weird for the North American Fichte Society. This one should be fun to share.
"Fichte on Ecology, Race, and Earthly-Life"
Yeah this is my HoP point. For Jacobi, the problem of the Good was just the tip of the iceberg.
At least it's from OUP so I'll never be able to afford to read it.
It bums me out that the history of philosophy is sidelined and this kind of shit get published by prestigious university presses. No offense intended to the author or reviewer of course, but damn.
Quentin Tarantino is the David Mustaine of film making.
You pulled it up on YouTube; I stole it from my father over 20 years ago. We are not the same.
"Aesthethica" by Liturgy vinyl.
Hell yeah.
Be right back, putting my life savings into a Polymarket bet on Rubella being next.
Plato/Spinoza/Schelling paper submitted. Now we wait.
Tomorrow in Intro to Philosophy:
Pretty wild that artificial "intelligence" managed to render students obsolete before teachers insofar as I would still have to grade all this slop.
Honestly didn't see that coming.
"Death Spells" by Holy Fawn vinyl.
Hell yeah.
Snow day listening.
Jonathan A. Cook's "Inscrutable Malice: Theodicy, Eschatology, and the Biblical Sources of 'Moby-Dick'" with beer.
Bouncing back and forth between Schelling/Plato/Spinoza and Moby-Dick. This book is a pretty great read.
Jonathan A. Cook's "Inscrutable Malice: Theodicy, Eschatology, and the Biblical Sources of 'Moby-Dick'".
"Mediocre Generica" byLeftΓΆver Crack vinyl
Hell yeah.
Showing up to Rowan campus:
I'd highly recommend that the "this is not who we are" crowd check out the last chapter of "Mariners, Renegades and Castaways" by C.L.R. James in which he recounts his detention at and eventual deportation from Ellis Island in the 1950s.
"In what way were the ends of justice served by this?"(143).
Might have broken the Modern kid's brains, but I've never had more students participate in a discussion than with "On Bullshit". Highly recommend.
Tomorrow should be another fun day of teaching. Spinoza's proof for the existence of God in Modern and bullshit in Intro.
Enjoying the final days of the snow before the rest turns to mud.
This book is a blast. Moby-Dick, Heidegger, Foucault, Derrida and Pynchon? Yes please.
Doing American Studies in the 70s, 80s, and 90s must have been a real trip.
I hate Outlook so much. I truly don't understand how it is possible for something designed for emails to be this bad at emails.
William V. Spanos' "The Errant Art of Moby-Dick: The Canon, the Cold War, and the Struggle for American Studies" and a beer.
Been a while since I've gotten into a new book.
"The Errant Art of Moby-Dick: The Canon, the Cold War, and the Struggle for American Studies" by William V. Spanos. I saw a review that was so negative that when I found a copy for $1 I had to pick it up.

For sure, the critique comes from within the band's broader aesthetic and isn't just pasted on top.
I find it so interesting how nu metal produced some really impressive subversive commentaries of the music industry in their videos. This and "Aerials" being prime examples.
Never thought about it this way, but obviously it's true. Please Mr. Ocean save us all. You alone have the power.
Considering directly billing Sam Altman for all the additional work I have to do grading blue books thanks to his shitty product. Who's with me?!?
Casually scrolling through the feed this morning. Seems Bad Bunny did cool stuff and I have no idea who won the game. I am fine with being this level of informed.
"The Great Fish..." by Squalus vinyl.
Hell yeah.
A sludge record all about Jaws? Yes please.
