GLP-1R Agonism Directly Improves the Pumping Capacity of Murine Collecting Lymphatic Vessels Background: Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonists have recently been suggested as effective therapies to treat or reduce the risk of developing secondary lymphedema in patients with obesi...

Our new preprint led by @maryschulz.bsky.social is now up. We show that semaglutide enhances the pumping capacity of collecting lymphatics. Our results support recent case reports suggesting beneficial effects of GLP-1R agonists in secondary lymphedema patients.

GLP-1R activation restores Gas6-driven efferocytosis in senescent foamy macrophages to promote neural repair Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a devastating condition characterized by the accumulation of myelin debris (MD), persistent neuroinflammation, and impaire…

Here the authors make inferences about macrophage GLP-1R signaling linked to senescence and efferocytosis using a GLP-1R antibody that is not validated for detection of the GLP-1R. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

A personal reflection on what’s at stake as science funding gets slashed. I’d be grateful if you could amplify both in and beyond the science world.

Did you know that science labs work like small business entrepreneurs? Faculty hired on strength of ideas, get some startup $ to last 3-4 yrs. After that is grants- grants pay all our + our trainees’ salaries + scientific work. Funding in this country is frozen. That means scientific work stops
