Three small squares with different watercolor backgrounds - magenta, purple, orange. Each is collaged with 6 or 7 "the"s in all different fonts, cut from a variety of newspapers and magazines
#the100dayproject day 25, in which I learn that a) watercolor smears when you brush glue on it, which you can then pick up with your fingers and leave smeary colored fingerprints, and b) the word "the" looks really, really weird when you are looking at it this many times

Notebook with a heading "Tues March 10". A carved pink stamp of a cat stretching, head between front paws and tail in the air, blocks the list itself. Underneath is the printed version facing the other way, and at the bottom is a carried-over list item, crossed out: "fix up stamp & re-try βοΈ" pointing at the cat
Le sigh. I did not think I had carved the eye out this big. Question: do I try again? It's a tiny stamp, like under an inch and a half. Or do I just decide I have made a big-eyed cat?

Another try at a repeating stamp. Reminds me of - whaddya call those shiny folded things on a stick that you blow on and they spin? Pinwheel?

Glowing silk fabric in rippling shades of turquoise, teal, aqua, emerald, lime and a tiny bit of yellow, reminiscent of a Caribbean beach vacation
Haven't decided yet if I'm doing a square for #the100dayproject tonight, but in the meantime here's what I do "for real" when I'm not messing around with art supplies - this is a 3 yard silk veil for a dance event I'm vending at next month. One down, many to go!

Results: the marker held up fine. Stamp pad not so much, but now that I'm thinking about it the martini might have been done in proper block-pronting fabric paint. Science would probably be better served if I labelled my experiments π€£

A green-yellow tie dyed bandana with a snowflake-ish design block printed on black, with parts colored in in red and orange
Also did one for a wash test, with "permanent" markers (do I sound like I've been burned? GOLLY). Both stamp pad and markers have been wash-tested after heat-setting, which the directions do not call for, but I am skeptical for Reasons

Small square with a snowflake-like print in black, that has petals and hearts. The design hangs off the edges in several places. It is painted in spring colors of pink, lime, tangerine, and blue.

"It's under an inch and a half, how long can it take?"
As it turns out, 2.5 hours from design, to carving, to turning the kitchen upside down looking for the stupid stamp pad, to printing and discovering it's still too big, to watercolors. Good thing there was no rush.

Long ago I worked at a fabric shop, and each quarter the patterns/trims companies would rotate out old styles/colors to make room for new. The manager was supposed to destroy them so they couldn't be resold, but would just chuck them out back.
We did a lot of dumpster diving that year.

A table is set with painting supplies - a cloth bag, a water cup with a bush perched across the top, a closed palette. Against the palette is leaning a small square watercolor of a table with painting supplies - a water cup, an open palette with a rainbow of colors. A pale hand is holding a paintbrush that is painting a purple swish on a small square watercolor.
