I find it hard to reconcile how high-quality it often feels with how amateur it often feels. I think it’s the reduced scale (see: Wapol showdown), the too-accurate costuming (i.e. cosplay), the inserted writing clichés, and how every weapon looks as heavy as foam.

He’s good at planning and plotting, no lie. But I think people sometimes get good retcon skills confused for good foreshadowing skills.

For all the praise Oda gets for planning things decades in advance, the OPLA is sure exposing what the writing could’ve been like if he actually knew *everything* in advance.

OTOH, they changed the Inko cameo from chapter 1 to her younger slimmer self too, so it feels deliberate. My guess is that they want to emphasize that this takes place in the past relative to MHA, so the designs need to be obviously younger.

I had a Wailord with me, so I technically could have taught it Surf, but I simply didn’t want to.

Found out my performance review this year will include a requirement to use AI tools to “increase efficiency”, so I guess have 10 more months to stew over how I’ll thread that needle.

A heads up that the Polygon article (and others in Japanese) about the horrible case coming out of Shogakukan is full of bad information, like conflating a civil and criminal case.

I'm sure this will cause zero issues when talking about the situation moving forward.

I was at a gathering recently and was asked what I thought about the efficiency of translating vs working with/checking MTL, and I asked them if they would rather do homework they know how to do or go over someone else's homework, and they got it right away.
