Yeah I'm starting to hope we don't do too well. Worst nightmare would be Man U but he wants to be a manager not a head coach (previous guy got sacked for claiming he was the former). Spurs also a risk. Or Bundesliga but would have to be a top team there.
No PSR after June. Should enable us to spend a bit more.
On the bright side, were only 2 behind Spurs. Would rather have a bigger cushion but now we have the opportunity to put more teams between us and the drop zone.

I think he had a chip on his shoulder and felt he wasn't respected as a northern working class person in academia. I'm guessing he missed out on a job/promotion and at some point decided to "sell out" (i.e. abuse his position as an academic to give some false authority to anti-immigrant viewpoints.

He's a classic grifter. An academic who used to hold centre-left views (supported Sadiq Khan for instance) but saw an opportunity in becoming the go-to academic of the far right. No doubt it's been quite lucrative for Goodwin.

Calling it now (maybe it's been said by someone else but I haven't seen it) - Digital ID will be used as part of a platform to rejoin the EU single market in the next Labour manifesto. I.e. make non-EU immigration harder, return to reciprocal FoM but enforce the 3 month rule for EU arrivals.
Oops, forgot to mention that I of course froze the income tax thresholds for a further 2 years.
..but £26bn is a decent chunk, while remaining tax neutral for most 'working people' - which could be argued to be honouring the spirit of the manifesto commitment (f not the letter).

I have raised £26bn in tax by:
▫️ increasing income tax basic rate to 24%
▫️ reducing NICs basic rate to 4%
▫️ charging NICs at the same rate on private pensions
▫️ charging NICs on older workers
▫️ applying CGT at death
